:mrbanana: My Group 4, the Island of Amazement, has ended.

Congratulations to Bjorn (Valn Ohtar) and Allister Fiend (First Family), who get 1.5 VPs each.

Thanks to all the players for participating --- it was a tough game, especially at the beginning.

Looking forward to the next chapter Bjorn!!!

The end is near

Post by Bjorn » Sun Dec 28, 2003 1:07 pm

OK, I am out of here in about an hour. If any games officially end before the end of the year, post the result here and I will add them to the 2003 HiScore before I officially close the books on it. No updates will be posted until 4 January 2004, as I won't be home until then.

Who sends out the invitations for the 2003 Champs? Do we have a GM?

Al mentioned on chat once that I could run the Champs and I think that I'd manage.

To all those who played in (both of :P) my Group 1 - I have a new computer, I guarantee I won't lose files for such an important event.

So if the players who qualify for this year's Champs have nothing against it I will gladly run the game for them.

Good news !

We would be glad to have you as our champs GM. I think Funty offered to run the Vice-Champs, so all seems to get ready for the big show....

Some of you will like this decision, others won't

Group 9 Wheel of Time VPs' will go to Nestalawe and Massielita. 1.5 each.

I'd like to note there was a misunderstanding of the rules and that Thin King played a amazing game that he may have otherwise won.

I understand that the group officially ends today so that means VPs are for the 2004 season.

I do care about this since I organise the 2003 Champs.

Al, as the moderator of this forum you might want to start a new thread about VPs and move Taker's post there.

According to the GM, the VPs for this game should be recorded against the 2003 Hi Score since the game effectively ended a month ago. I concur with this and will award these points to 2003 Hi Score. If anyone wants to protest this decision, I guess you will have to take it up with the GMC.

Hmmmmmm..... SHOULD be recorded for 2003 ??

Im not sure if this is a 'good' or 'valid' decision. Sure only the GM can declare a game for finished, but hey, what if the Champs would already have started ? (And invitations have been sent, remember that.)

Whats the deadline here ?

Fortunately this doesn't interfere with Champs and I'm not sure if Funty started sending invites for Vice-champs.

I won't argue about this one.

As far as i remember when the GMC was given power to decide unfinished games it was with the limitation that any game that any vps for the unfinished game should count towards the period in which the decision was made instead of when the game was abandoned.

However in games that are finished i would say that it's the GM's call. But we should be aware that it then is possible for a GM to wait with making the result known till a new period has started in order to influence the standings for the wok4 and wok5 champs. That's always a possibility.

There's also the question of players trying to push the decision over into the next scoring period. I'm not saying that that was the intention here, but the game ended last scoring period and the GMC decided the points last scoring period. But then there was a huge fuss about it which meant the points were never officialy allocated. The VP split now is the same as what the GMC said though. So for my part I'd say the points go to 2003.

Some of you will like THIS decision too, and others won't. Unfortunately there would appear to be more people than I thought in the happy category (looks at clanmates).

As promised, the Champs will be the last game I play. And now that I have seen the starting position there, I dont think you need to worry about me getting any more VPs.

If you're not in the Champs game, I'll see you around.

Hey!

At least you'll still have one more shot at attempting to RIP me.

I still don't understand why you are leaving. :?

Seems a great player like yourself would want to keep playing.

If you could detail your reasoning a bit more, maybe we can understand your decision a little better.

That kind of sucks, 'cause I was looking forward to roughing you up some more this year.

Looks as if I will have to put all my ammo in one gun and go all out in this one.

Hope you may change your mind about leaving but if you decide to still go then I wish you the best.

It's been real, real challenging anyway.

Allister

I agree! The Vice-Champ wannabes are waiting.

We need a third WSC member to suuport this pressing matter.

The rules are unclear and it's WSC job to interpret them.

I suggest a quick vote with 2 options:
1. VP's from Taker's 9 (aka Nick's whatever) count towards 2003 scoring period
2. VP's from Taker's 9 count towards 2004 scoring period

If some member of the WSC thinks it should be the GM's decision then just wait for the vote from FF representative and vote the way he does.

I know it's also WSC's job to change rules that are unclear and set new rules but in this case I want a quick vote so that Vice-Champs can finally start.

If you're a member of WSC and you share my view then please e-mail this to Nick so that he can organise a vote ASAP.

I agree that we should have clear rules set by the WSC to in future handle such things, but in this case i don't really see any problems why the vps shouldn't be added to last period's total as the game was finished last period.

So no need to wait another week or so on a WSC vote (although we do need to have rules on this, so the WSC should definitely look at that), let's get things started for the WOK 4 Champs! :D
