Someone say new GM?

Post by Donut » Fri Dec 19, 2003 8:48 am

Yep, I did. I guess this is my official announcement the community that I have turned GM. I have my page up (http://free.hostdepartment.com/G/GMJosh/home.html), and have gained access to Kaobase and the managers. I hope to open up a game soon but I want to get more comfortable with the managers before I open one, run it, and mess it up.

I'm just curious as to what game I should open. Keep in mind since this is my first game, it has to be an advanced game. So, WOK5 or 4? What map? That's it for now, I'm really friggin tired. 5am bedtime last night and it's now 3 am again tonight. Why do I push my homework off so late? Hmmm, oh well. It was definitly worth it to stay up and go to LOTR tonight. Just glad I didn't fall asleep during it; it's pretty hard to.

Falling asleep during LotR????

BLASPHEMY!!! :behead:

Personally i prefer a wok 4 game, though the last game that was opened also was wok 4 so the wok 5 guys might want another game. :)

The map you use is totally up to you, so choose one that strikes your fancy. In re to what type of game you play, really both WOK 4 and WOK 5 are equally easy to run as a GM. As Sal pointed out the last advanced game to open was WOK 4, so you might want to consider a WOK 5 one- but then, I am biased. :D Either way I am sure the game would be much in demand, and if you need anything at all as a new GM or have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me or anybody else on the GMC!

Good Job Donut. I look forward to playing in one of your games. Of course I'll wait until you run your first WOK 4 game though.
Hopefully some of the rest of us will get things up and running so we can GM a game as well. It would be nice to see lots of waitlists WOK 4 and 5.

OK, here it is. I'm opening a WOK5 waitlist. I will be using Nick's Trade Wars map(I haven't played WOK5 yet but this map looks like there won't be any wasted time to start fighting for cities).

Group Page:
http://free.hostdepartment.com/G/GMJosh/group1.html

I realize that most WOK5 games run on a 3-4 day period but this being my first group, I'm going to start them off at a week between turns (Will most likely decrease as I get used to the manager). Deadlines will most likely be on Wednesday or Thursday night, and will be run fairly close to the deadline (Few classes on Thur, no class till 2 on Fri.). The game isn't in the Kaobase yet, I'm not sure what the naming regulations are, if there are any.

My goal is to fill the group by New Years, and send out the initial turn. If it fills as quick as I think it probably will, the first deadline will be the Wednesday night after the New Year.

Naming regulation for KaoBase is:

Group#xx_Name

Notice that xx requires you to enter 2 digits.... :P (or else the KO-F will refuse orders hehehehe)
