Good job Val. You would have been down to 1 province instead of 3, btw, but I guess Sal was busy elsewhere.

BTW, guys, I hope you are seeing that luck plays a big part in WOK4 as well (Val going first in the OoP, missiles not hitting armies, etc.). That is why, IMHO, WOK5 is a much better game to play. After you get used to playing WOK4, you guys should think about trying WOK5.

*Mumbles something about a hottub and some girls and forgetting all about the turn*.

WOK 5 better because there's less luck involved? How about WOK 5 is more boring because there's less luck involved...i mean you also must have liked doing your math homework didn't you Eg? :P

Anyway, good show guys, it was a pleasure working together with you and a shame i wasn't closer to Donut and Validon because i would have liked an exciting fight with them. But still...turn seven...who would have guessed!

Well....

I'm enjoying my third ever game of WOK,(Mike's Group 2, Feudal) and still alive in turn 5!!
Big Deal right, It's a record for me. Thanks to the Vets, and a few fellow Newbies who are very helpful (stand up and take a bow, you know who you are) I have a much better understanding of the game. :beatnik:

Also: I looked into WOK 5, and Holy Smokes! Lots of different elements in that! I don't think I have that much time on my hands, so I'm going to stick to 4, I hope the GM's keep it alive! (most likely I will not be seeing RAW in 4 either) speaking of which, how you doin, old chum?

One last thought: Has anyone ever considered a newbie of the year award? Not that I would have a shot, but, I can think of a couple players who deserve that honor (Validon, Mullog, Donut maybe?) What do you think? :gossip: Or maybe even comeback player, (that would be me, Zed, because i'm coming back to kick WOK tail!) :army:

Actually Zed.....you will see a whole lot more of me in WOK4 rather than WOK5 :).

Cheers,
Raw

I have been suggesting that "WOK newbie of the year" award in chat a while ago.

Maybe its something the WSC can vote on ? Or have (yet another) game with the Top-10 new contenders ?

You'd have to make it more often than yearly really. The turnover (and learning curve) of players round here is pretty high. It could be a nice little award to do twice a year though. At the same time as the clan champs for example.

After all, I've only been playing WOK for a little over 13 months and I just got given 4-1 odds for winning the champs! :P

That seems reasonable. Twice a year, coinciding with the Clan Champs. Maybe just a general vote of players. There doesn't really need to be any award or anything, just recognition in my opinion.

My vote for the last whenever: Validon

Ok, we can do this when Clan champs kick in.

Vote will be restricted to ONE per Player in an official "Vote" thread.

So what "title" will the best newbie get ? How about WOK MVP (most valuable Player if u didnt know) ?

:afro:
It's great to see everyone is getting into the newbie idea, but I wonder, is a newbie judged by time, or games played? Congradulations Korexus on your 4-1 odds in the championships, good luck!

Gm_Al, it's a real honor to share your idea, great minds think alike I guess. :eureka:

newbie mvp is cool, and the voting idea is right on, but do we have a list of players to vote on? Please let me know about that, and the thread we vote on. Why vote on any thread, but Fresh Meat? After all, this is the newbies thread!

Yeah well, a new thread makes things more "important" I guess....

MVNP - anyone that has joined WOK since the last vote will be elligible to get votes. We can establish a list of new Players when we get there.

(For the first vote of this kind we will go back for 1 year in WOK history if you agree on this).

Once again I find my foot in my mouth. You can talk the talk, but can you WOK the WOK!! ( that's good, I thought little joke there....)
anyway with my sub-par perfromance in my WOK 4 games, I have found that I'm not backing my words with much action

Alas, the pen is mightier than the sword with more time will come expierence and then a warrior may rise from the ashes of his once burning empire

Keep an eye on the [glow=darkblue]Balance of Time [/glow]Clan...there's some new talent coming from that group I see great things ahead!
