STAR TREK
Just in case any one is interested
Decipher.com have updated their Star Trek CCG On line, to include the new 2nd edition Cards. This is real good, as the 2nd Edition is far more suited to on line play. 1st Edition was more complex and the playmat got a bit messy.
Anyway I was wondering if any of you guys would like to give it a try.
And the good news is that you can play for [shadow=blue][/shadow]FREE[shadow=#ffffff][/shadow]. When you sigh up you get a free Starter Deck. This is all you need to play. You can also get free boosters by turning up to the happy hour events. So, you never really have to spend any cash. Although, Decipher would probably like you to. They do sell on-line cards, but as I said, you can manage without these.
The interface is not up to MTGO standard, but it does work OK. The numbers of player is not huge. Most of the action seems to happen around my bedtime. 12:00 pm GMT. All those dangnabbit yanks wanting to play when I am heading off up the wooden hill. So, if any Europeans were willing to give it a go that would be real good.
Even if you are not that intested in playing. You could always sign up. Get a 2nd Edition Starter Deck. And then, use the Deck Builder to trade (gift) the 3 random Rare cards included in the Starter Deck to me.(I will do anything for free cards, well almost). If anyone does sign up, you want a FREE 2nd Edition Starter , try and avoid 1st Edition. Both me and Shakira are playing, and we would love to see some friendly faces.
On the MTGO front: Al how do I join the WOK Clan?.

*thought this was explained on the MTGO page on Kaomaris.com*
I will need to invite you. Just add me to your buddies with
/addbuddy Da_Brainbug (thats me)
and then send me a message with your username. You will meet ppl like Egbert and Moridin then.
Ill invite you to the clan and you just need to click on 'Ok' then.
Although right now Im not too often in MTGO. Their V2.0 upgrade disaster really shook me off (imagine: a purely online game with thousands of regular visitors does an upgrade where the servers keep crashing every 10 minutes - FOR 3 WEEKS ! They even werent yet able to debug the dangnabbit thing, must have cost them millions.... )
Ill see to check out Star Trek, although I dont really like the series. But maybe the CCG is better. (It wasnt with V1.0, I played that last year on a game convention.)

If anyone does decide to give STAR TREK CCG ON LINE a go.
I will be at the happy hour on thursday night.
This is at midnight here in the UK, because we are on BST. (the old British Summer Time Thing)
As for GMT that is 01:00 a.m. GMT.
I would advise going for a Romulan 2nd Edition Starter Deck, or A Jean Luc 2nd Edition Starter Deck. These would be free to a new sign up, and I do not play these afiliations so I might have cards to trade.
Might see someone there (?)
Feel free to drop me an e-mail if you are interested
stebarnes@ntlworld.com
p.s. It's Al's fault that I got into STCCG On-line. When MTGO, came out my PC did not meet required spec. (we are all poor here in UK). So, I searched around to find other on-line games that I did meet requirments for. Signed up for STCCG on-line without knowing how to play. Got RL cards. Got into game. Then found could not really play on-line, very well, due to low spec of machine. But, now have better machine and cable modem. Just need more people to play with now, or I could just not go to bed and wait for all the US players to log in.

That Error message seems to happen to me most of the time.
But, if I then click on the play option, itthen goes to a log on screen again, which enter my details for. Then it goes to a play screen where it at the bottom there are 2 options 1=Meeting Room/Alpha Quadrant 2=Tournament Play. Click on Meeting Room (or whatever it is really called). This brings up a launcer that says it is connecting to the game system. But, it then (most times) goes back to the play screen where you scroll down to the 2 options of Meeting Room or Tournament. I click on Meeting Room (Casual Play) again). This sets the launcer off again. And, usually this gets the game environment to kick in. You sould be in the Meeting Room where you can chat to the other players, depending how many are there.
In my experience you have to keep trying the Play option to actually get in. This is not good, but it does work in the end.
p.s. what sort of speed is your processor, and what sort of connection do you have.
I have 2 machines, the 850mhz machine logs in fine, the 330mhz machine struggles.

Looks like MTGO will get a real contender....
http://www.gamingvoice.com/gvmain/featu ... trotcg.asp
Ive read several other reviews on this, and all were good. Looks like Im out to get me two starter decks and register for the public beta of the online LOTR !
Anyone else intending to join ? I must admit Im more drawn into this then into Star Trek - never was much of a Trekkie.... LOTR on the other hand rocks, and the rules of the CCG seem to have evolved quite nicely.

I'd signed up as a beta tester for LOTR on-line, months ago, but decipher have never got back to me. But, when they do let me in I will be giving it a go. I Have plenty of RL LOTR cards, but do not play that much these days. I assume the on-line game will give you a free starter deck, and if they have happy hours like STCCG, then you might be able to get free cards, and never have to pay.
I still think STCCG, is the best. It does take some getting into, but is really great when it all clicks into place. I have always been a bit of a trekie, but also a LOTRer, Wargamer, and a host of other anti-social things.
