It's a 2-player game with each player playing 3 different colors. The remaining 4 colors are computer-controlled and follow a strict set of attack/convert/movement rules.Egbert wrote:Uhhh, how do you play "WOK: Duel"?
There's no diplomacy ... sheer military tactics.
I'm sure Han will fill you in with much more detail.

Yep, MUCH more detail! It's all in "WOK Duel Rules", in the menu top left of here. But Bryk's summary about sums it up.Brykovian wrote:It's a 2-player game with each player playing 3 different colors. Duke is a little bit brilliant at Duels. So beware, Eg, you stand very little chance against him in your first Duel ... (Just stoking up the sense of challenge! )

Where did you get 50 pages from?! It's one continuous page, but the Rules of Full Duel, printed out, run to 3 or 4 pages of printout.Egbert wrote:(Egbert looks at the 50-page rule book)
Uh, this may take awhile Duke......................
Suggestions as to which bits to cut out?
If it's too complex for you, or you're using that as an excuse, feel free to stick to Standard!

lol! Okay, it looks like everyone has had their fun. I finished reading the rules. It looks very interesting! I guess that's why it has been so popular these past few months. It even has a NAP-checking feature which I think would be great in a Standard WOK game. In Advanced WOK, 2 players can NAP and program the NAP into the game to extremely discourage NAP-breaking. Has anyone thought about doing this in Standard WOK, where 2 players would not be allowed to attack/bomb/spy each other because the computer won't let them.
Okay, Duke --- let's go! How about the Forest Lake map?

Right, I've set it up. Forest Lake map as Egbert suggested. Full Duel. Remember the AA, BB and CC temporary naps, as per rules, and that there is no headhunting for TWO turns, as per rules.
I think the set-up (only took me 5 tries!) looks even and interesting. But if either of you, looking at it for longer than I, reckons it significantly favours one side, then let me know, and I'll either run a fresh start or use bidding, your choice.
Sp pls lemme know: OK with you, or not fair and even?
Cheers,
GM Han

OK. From my POV, obviously i'd prefer you to take a look at the map and buy into it as fair. In case I missed something. It's a safety net for me. And so that neither will say later that they started with a poor hand, however prepared they were to risk it. That's why I requested that you take a look first?Egbert wrote:As I sometimes do in poker, I'll play the map without looking at it first. So, let's go!
Never mind. You are off. G'luck to both, and enjoy.

That sounds like a bet to me! OK, I accept your bet on Egbert. (TBH, I'd have taken an evens bet on EITHER player, if only to add to the fun and interest ). Let's call it one Sapphire? You just have to code up a way to pay me at the end - I already owe Bjorn a whole Pearl, which he's pressing for, but I can't see how to pay him; and I won and lost a Bar with two folks, too, on that Duke/Bryk Duel.korexus wrote:
But then, as he's about to serve up Duke's rear end on a silver platter, he'd have to no cause to anyway...
korexus.
BTW, that's Sapphire with 2 p's. What is it with you Oxford graduates that you can't spell?! Oh, and, for consistency, you might grant pearl a capital P. You can pay me with an Emerald for this helpful advice
