Somehow I believe filling up this one will take long enough for me not to worry about being in too many games.

He didn't ask but I would be tempted to refuse. He joined one of my other games and proptly went m-3 without ever sending in any orders.
Question everything.

Not bad. Two weeks for the game to get 10 players, and about 6 weeks for the game to play out. For all practical purposes, this game is over.

How difficult would it be to have the player scores factored into a vote to end the game? Hryllantre and I have a combined point total far in excess of the other players total score. Would it be possible to have the GM total the point values of all the players, and if those voting yes have 80% of the total it ends the game?

This would save us the trouble of having to submit orders for a game that is probably already over. :D

Well, if the game is that wrapped up, I'm sure everyone will vote for you anyway. And if not, you'll be able to finish them off in short order. - Or are you scared that you could still throw it away?

Hopefully the three players will see the very good sense in claiming a combined third place considering the new scoring system. If as the forums suggest we are to have a Top 10 finale then it would be in all their interests to now claim the extra points on offer...

trewqh will die first as he has the most points in that present system, then Dragonette and finally Bloodaxe....

This has been a brilliant game to have participated in but I hope it doesn't drag out...

IMHO it's a lot easier than that. No need to code up voting-weightings or agree on formulae. Not worth the bother.

Think of the psychology. Some players think it honourable and even expected that they put up a fight to the bitter end! A player or pair knows they have lost and yet are playing it out. BECAUSE: they don't know whether they are being cowardly quitters if they give up now, versus saving everybody the waste of effort, by conceding now. If they play on to the bitter end, they don't know whether they are showing grit and making you work for it, or wasting their time and yours. I've seen players get credit for a "fight-to-the-end" stance. Misplaced.

Personally, I think waste-of-time should favour conceding as soon as you've 99% lost, rather than try for respect as "never-give-up".

I think, all it takes is a mail: "Well fought. I'm sure you know you're beat. No need to play to the bitter end. In this case, WE would prefer it if you conceded rather than made a last stand, to save us all dragging it out. Respect to you even if you concede now. IF you disagree, think you can still win, or really want to make a stand, then fine, fight on".

I think you'd find that this ended most games at about the right time. Without the need for formulae, weightings and coding. Just my 2 cents.
