Fall of the Raj

Post by Lardmaster » Wed Apr 25, 2007 5:22 pm

As we don't have a waitlist I have set up my 2nd grp. Fall of the Raj. I'll attempt ot give the commentary an Imperial flavour. I imagine this game will take a while to fill up so no hassling the GM to start early :)

Maybe if you can get 7 or so new players together you could make it a game just for new players?

Too late!! We now have 5 with the return of Eagle Eyes. I wouldn't have a problem with creating a beginners game whenever we have enough players though.

I hereby challenge anyone to join the game, so we can get it going.

I have applied to join!
Since Jen wouldn't stop asking me if I would play, I just had to sign up...
That means 3 of the Barnes family will battle it out!
Jen, Emma, you're both going down in this one!

Err...for the record, is it even allowed for us to play together from the same computer? I wouldn't want to kill everybody and then find out I wasn't even allowed to join

Hey there Yondallus! Welcome to WOK!

I have to say that after your previous post about Barnes, my first glance at your last post made me see that you'll 'continue to breed cunning pla...'yers.

Btw, do you know a Stephen Barnes? We have player by that name. :)

Yarosund are you there? :)

Well, I will prove I'm capable to win some games here very soon, so watch your back!
Besides, it's not because we're family that we'll spare each other, I can promise you that.

Stephen Barnes is not someone I know, and no-one related to me goes by that name, so I guess I'll have to disappoint you :)

Well goes to show that we really do need the clans back. Diplomacy in WOK is 'bound' to a quite strict set of conventions and do's and don'ts. Things which are very hard to teach new players if they don't have somebody watching over them.

So i would propose to reinstate the rule that every new player should join a clan.

They could sign up for a game before they have found a clan, but should join a clan before the game begins.

Best thing would be if we could just have 2-4 very active clans. Personally i don't care if the clan has 5, 10 or just 2 members as long as they make good work of mentoring new players.

Right now we have the Scholars that are still active. Which other clans are still active or could be revived (CoN?)

Plus we could have clan wars again which always have been great fun! :D

What does everybody think?

Well As Korexus told me getting everyone one online to say yes or no to people joining the clans But maybe bringing that rule in it will inspire peole to look at the site more often.

I don't know what clan wars are so i cannot comment on that and neither will most of the players that come online as they all seem to be fairly new and not in a proper clan so ireally don't know ask someone wth more experience

I think getting more than two clans to really become active and stay that way will be the hard part.

The Vulkings are more or less present, but I unfortunately can't take responsibility and say that we are able to perform the teaching/mentoring function of a clan.

Dragonette,

A Clan War game is simply a game between two Clans. (5 players per side). You don't attack your Clanmates, just the opposing clan. It is purely for bragging rights.

Tigress,
Please don't be discouraged by the events of this first game. I accept your reasons. Seems to be just a miscommunications between you and Vortan. The same thing happened between myself and Tbert in the Risk Game, and I now am about to find myself much in the same position as Vortan. (I am about to be killed by the big bully Tbert.....again) I generally will give a player a second chance, should there be a "miscommunication" in our agrements. However, should the miscommunication happen a second time, there will not be a first, as I will go out of my way to eliminate him/her from a game as quickly as possible. Fortunately, there have been very few times that this has happened. Chalk it up to experience and WOK ok!

Remember, this is a game, and it's whole purpose is to have fun. It is much more fun to lose to someone who has beaten you fair and square, than it is to lose to someone who backstabs you to get a measely VP. Beat me on even terms and I will be the first to congratulate you. :D

To give this thhread a more positive swing again...

So we now have:

- The Scholars (Korexus, Brykovian, Egbert, Saladin)
- The Vulkings (Trewqh, Hannibal, Validon)
- Valn Ohtar (Aussie Gaz, Tbert)
- Brotherhood of Vayuna (Underdog)
- Balance of Time (Yarosund)
- Thuggee (Lardmaster)
- Circle of Nine (Calidus)?

And about 12-14 active mercenaries. (Sorry if i forgot somebody)

Now if we can get about 8 of those mercenaries in to clans we could re-instate the whole clan structure again.

It would be good if the different clans could let us know if they are currently looking for new players to join them so that our new players know which clans they can approach.
