I may be wrong, but my impression is that the whole Clan concept needs a certain 'critical mass' of Players and then takes off.

Like that snowball effect in an avalanche maybe....

I begin to believe that we are very close to that level. Will we even see new Clans now ?

I hope not since experience shows that even with a big inflow of new players from time to time there are and have been for some time now only 3 solid clans that have managed to keep a solid player base and stay active all the time.
I would rather have just 5 solid and slightly bigger clans than all these 2-4 player constellations popping up from time to time and changing names once every six months or so.

Another Suggestion

Well your Lordship: I have an Idea

as you say, a handful of solid Clans exist, then maybe a seperate
clan category should be created just for clans that endure with a certain amount of core players. say a clan that keeps a certain amount of players for a year, is a member of this league If a clan drops under a certain amount of "core" players, they drop back into the "other constellations" this would keep track also, over a period of time just to recognize the endurance of a clan
