Thuggee Announcement. The King is dead. Long Live the King

Post by Lardmaster » Mon Aug 04, 2003 7:41 pm

In the begining there was Power.
And the Power was in the Stones. The Monk was charged of taming that power
for the good of all, and such he began doing with great success. At first he
discovered many great things that were unknown to all, and everyone cheared.
Desease and hunger were soon to be forgotten, and all quarrels lost their
strenght, as there was enough to please all.
But the Monk began spending all of his time near the Stones, and he became
obsessed with them.
His face grew darker and he set himself apart from his friends. He became
suspicious of everyone, and his friends became suspicious of him.
As the Monk's understanding of the Stones grew greater, his will was bent
towards the Power. He became more interested in what he could do with the
power to defeat his enemies, and he began testing it in the Mountains of
Dust.

Meanwhile, there was a great rallying of forces, and the five great clans
prepared for battle.

The Red Dameon rallied other clans with his and gathered an army such as was
never seen.
He marched proud in his might and ordered the Monk to release the Stones to
him. Then came the end of the begining.

Piebald was the leader of his clan. A great and ancient warrior, he fought
with great courage and could not be predicted in the battle field. That was
his strenght. That was his bane...

In the ongoing war for the Stones, Piebald had sworn his allegiance to the
chosen leader, the Red Dameon. He was a knight of honour, and he would
rather lose his life than betray his word, but the moment came when he had
to do what would forever torment him, and forever blacken his name.

It happened when the tide of the war was slowly turning to the White Side.
Being one of the elder, Piebald had seen the arrival of the Stones, the
transformation of the Monk and the look in his eyes as he grew darker. He
was a wise man, and he knew what would become of anyone who tried to tame
the Power. So he tried to talk with the Red Dameon about the Stones, but he
could not, because his friend was swift to anger everytime someone mentioned
what was to become of the Stones. His eyes would grow colder.
Fighting against himself, Piebald knew what had to be done.

In the night before the Battle of Peace, Piebald took his men out of the
camp. He talked with them all night long in a speech that would tire his
voice. They understood his plan.

In the next morning, they returned to the camp. That they had been watching
the enemy was the excuse they gave. None noticed how they had mudied their
white banners so they would become grey.

The Battle started. Falling bodies on the Dark side made Piebald stop and
weep. His captains stopped as well, as if waiting for a sign.
Piebald looked far and wide, and saw that the White Side would win now, with
or without his men.
All of his clan had stopped by now, in the middle of the battle. Some men
were being killed as they stood, but they all looked at Piebald with hope
in their hearts and tears in their eyes. And then it happened.

Piebald took his dagger, pointed it towards the sky and gave the order.

What happened next few remember, for few were the ones to survive.
Piebald's clan turned and started to kill everyone, no matter wich side they
were on, catching the White Knights by surprise and their friends and foes
in disbelief.

He would rather die than betray his word, but this was more important than
his life.
He knew that his name would be blackened and cursed forever, but he had to
destroy those armies. His enemies', his friends' and his own.

No man should ever have the strength to own the Stones again.
Then the Stones were shattered in the presence of the leaders of each clan.
Even though he was cursed by all but his men, one thing he was entitled to,
and that he took as a reminder of his fate. The dagger that is so often used
to betray and kill one's friend was the instrument with which the Stones
were destroyed. He would still weep every time he thought of the irony in
that.

His men suffered as well, and they became known as Thuggs who would chose no
side, either white or dark, men who cared for nothing but themselves.
Piebald could not escape his fate, so he decided to embrace it. He named his
clan after what they were called, and he chose his banner.
The Dagger.

Knowingly accepting his burden, Piebald refused to be an enthralled minion
to the Shadows or a religious fanatic for the White Side. The knowlegde of
the great danger was passed onto every man or woman born in his clan.

Of the five original clans, only Thuggee remain. Only Thuggee carry
the lost knowledge of what past, and what will come, and only the Grey
Warriors of the Dagger can remember that far back with pride.

That time has now past and Piebald long since departed. The burden of leadership fell to Tristao who tried long and hard to erase the untrustworthy stain from the Thuggee name. Now the time has come for the burden to be surrendered once more and Lardmaster will take up the reigns and attempt to bring back the glory to the proud Thuggee clan.
Question everything.

Very nice story Lardmaster. Let's see if you can get 4 active members together now only.
I actually am curious, people often talk of the 5 founding clans but which do you actually refer to?
Dark Stone, Ar-Sereg, Thuggee and what else? Scholars?

The Posse and the Sword of Vengeance were the other two clans, I believe. I came in right about the time that the clans started and I remember those two being here.

Nice story, Lardmaster. I think you picked the most unlikely of heroes for your story, however. I miss Piebald's entertainment value, but I think you're about the only one who ever called him honorable. :lipssealed:

What about Bicco's Red Branch of Knights, they were around long ago.... doesn't anyone remember Bicco?

Bicco where are you?

Nah I think Strider is right, the Posse and SoV probably were among the very first. I too joined WOK around this time and ended up joining the Posse.
The reason I got doubtful is just that the Posse and SoV were so shortlived and did not make a hole lot of impact on WOK I just think it's a bit presumptious to talk about them in such big words the "the big five" or "the founding clans".

Indeed, this story is part of Thuggee tradition.
I am the oldest Thugg around, and so, it is my job to remember these events and to pass them on to our young fighters. Our new leader, Lardmaster, decided that this account of the way things happened should be made public, so that all should find out for themselves the truth.

We dare not say that we are the clan with the most fighters, or the clan with the most VPs. Because we are not. And so we do not say that the once existing clans that have passed away have conquered many titles, because some of them didn't. Still, they were part of that time. They are memories to us. Of old enemies, of old friends.
Some of you may not remember them, but what the young lack in memories, they surpass in power and energy! (and sometimes foolishness)

But this is old history, of an age passing by.

As for this old knight, I think I'll be taking the rust of my old blade, and foolishly (like the young) run into a battlefield somewhere.
Maybe I still have something to give back to other fighters (hacks and slashes).

When I started The Posse and SoV were basically dead already. I wanted to join the Posse because of their site and it's link with the Stephen King Gunslinger series but I was told BR had left Kaomaris. I joined the Scholars to join Thin King, Count Henri, Rage, and for some reason I think there was another player there but canot remember the name.
Fredo that would have made us clan mates :D
If I recall that was about June or July after the clans were founded in Feburary.
So the Scholars were NOT a founding clan but they were awfully close.
there were alot of clans that didn't last long I remember most of them some lasted longer than others but thay have all faded into history for the most part. I think a big reason the Scholars have lasted as long as they have was the success they had and the people they had in the clan. The test they had to take before allowed in was more a test of how interested the player was in learning the game. I suspect that they have had better luck with keeping players around than most other clans for that reason. You had to show that you wanted to learn the game before you were allowed in. rather than just join a clan to find out you just wanted to play a turn and leave. when you spend enough time to learn the game it is more fun to play.

Just more comments from another OLD timer.
There's no need to fear...........

I liked the guy who came to Kaomaris as a newbie, started his own clan: Black Legion and was completely sure that he had such a prefect understanding of the game before even playing in one group that he would win any group he would join.

Remember that one?

Yeah Kermit, I remember that one. :P

(From now on Trewqh will only be known as Kermit. The old name sucked anyways.)

Wasnt it the now so-called Seth/Evrivian or a friend of him that created this Clan-wannabe Black Legion ?
