Didn't you say something like that last turn too? You really should make sure of what you say before you say it. That way you run less of a risk of looking stupid!
P.S. You really lucked out on that battle, you know that don't you?
You think that was lucky, you should have seen some of the battles I had with Underdog. He got that city down to 1 defending army two turns in a row. You'd better watch out if you plan on attacking more though. The scholars are using the "luck" tactic this game, Bryk's been putting it to pretty good effect, just look what happened to Funty!

korexus.

PS, it might not be quite so much "luck" as you think. It seems to be that when you work out who's going to win a battle you should take into account little things like having an EFF of 65% Is it any better this turn? Well, is it?

Having looked at my turn report in more detail I'd like to clear up a point. Now pay attention folks, this is a big one.

[glow=red]I did not, in fact, "luck out" in the battle with Allister at all![/glow]

In fact, if anything, he got lucky...

This is nice and easy to check. At the end of the battle the PDEF of my trrops was 14. All the way through Allisters was 10. I started with 46 troops and he had 68. Go and plug those numbers into Mullog's battle calculator and you'll find me having an 85% chance of winning. This is actually lower than the real result as my PDEF was higher for most of the battle, consider it a worst case scenario.

Having played around on Excel for a bit, I have come to one innevitable conclusion, that You, Allister actually got lucky in that battle when you killed as many troops as you did! This is good, now *if* you manage to kill me, *I* get to blame bad luck.

I appologise for claiming in my previous post to have used luck. I now see that it was Allister's poor economy managment that was the deciding factor in the battle. How is that going anyway, Ally?

According to the BBC (Bjorn Battle Calculator), assuming that your PDEF started at about 14, Allister's 68 troops should kill 36 defenders. An average result would leave you with 10 armies. Assuming your PDEF was a bit higher at the start of the battle, you should have between 10 and 12 armies survive.

Congratulations to a well GM-ed game so far. Looks like the Champs might see a quicker outcome as the one from last year.

Please make sure to use V3.30.4 with the corrected MapMaker and always save your turn data with the TDH. (I know you do this, just a quick reminder to all GMs that have games up or planned)

If you were to ask me to put numbers to it, I'd say about 18 troops, of which 3 or 4 would have been from the surviving archers. The problem with that is a high variance, if a couple of Archers die ealier then the PDEF drops and more troops die sooner, resulting in fewer surviving troops come the end.

Still, not a bad guess, Bjorn, considering that you didn't know what my battle mix was...

Yeah AF I have already gotten on him for his spelling and grammer. Now if only those Scholars would hire a halfway decent english teacher we could all read the boards again. I think Raw is beginning to remind me of X-Wing. X-Wing at least had an excuse, he usually typed that bad after a night at the pub
