GM Mike's Group#01 Beginnings Turn 03 is out

Post by trewqh » Thu Jun 26, 2003 1:15 pm

OK, so I opened a new waitlist, the link is:

http://republika.pl/gmmike/group1.htm

I will choose the map in a minute and will update the game's page accordingly.

Next step will be the houserules, anyhow no headhunting for this game.

9 spots open (Dameon is already in) so e-mail me to join

Yours sincerely, :D

Errmmm... can Beginners join ?

I really cant remember the regulation changes we made about beginners - maybe the WSC or the GMC or our newbie guy Casablanca can put that somewhere ?

On that behalf, how often do people send you a mail about WOK Casa ??

I'll be using Tomb Raider's Beginnings map.

Teleport at tech lev 7 and 8-Cities Rule in apply to make it a quick game.

Well, I also couldn't find this rule anywhere by myself but I have the info that a new GM can't run beginner games from first hand, Nick told me that.

9 spots remain, I will run turn 00 on friday night (my time, GMT +2h) or if I don't gather 10 players until that time, then I'll run it after the 1-st July because I have my exams for the university on the 30th :D Anyone would like to guess what I want to study?

I'd say these are the three wisest guesses for a none native English speaking Wokito, but not me :P

To make it easier to guess I'll say that this domain couldn't do without some language or without one big section of maths. Also nowadays computers also are in it's pool of interest.

The only real change in rules here is that the GMC decided that new GMs cannot run beginner games. The reasoning behind that is twofold. First, we think that any beginner player should definetely have the advantage of an established GM. Not to name any names, but can you imagine say, Seth running a beginner group? We might well lose several interested parties by the time the game started. The GMC felt that if a GM could complete one full game, then he has proven himself, and the restriction is lifted. The second reason is that beginner games are often simply more frustrating to GM, with orders often coming in formatted incorrectly and players missing turns more frequently. New GMs still learning the engine should have the advantage of having veteran players by and large so at least the orders are coming in correctly.

All that being said, if a beginner really wanted to sign up for this WOK 5 game, I suppose he still could, although he would probably be killed in fairly short order against players so much more experienced than him and perhaps not learn anything. That is why I am specifically going to open a beginner WOK 5 waitlist for my next game- that will truly give real beginners the opportunity to learn how to play WOK 5 without too much competition.

1 spot left and still we have an average of 11.22 VP per player.

The three top players in the Kaohalla are in the game.
Bjorn, Calidus, Underdog, maybe one of you want to join? 8)

It's a pity that Raw is no longer a BoV member because we already have 2 Scholars in the game :P

Those are swamps, I believe.

GM Mike --- you are going to have to change the color of player 4 --- just ask Nick --- he had to do it in the Champs. Otherwise, some of the terrain will disappear because it is the same color --- dark brown.

Thanks, DICK. Gee its nice to see that all of you arent' encountering any REAL LIFE problems that make you have to give WOK a back burner for the time being. And Al, Strider, TK I'd expect better from you all.

Bushes represent swamps. Those asterisks represent Tundra.

About this colors, it;s not yet fixed but I'll keep that in mind, thanks Eg.

Well, TK's more general sciences were closer. These are hmm... WAY OFF! :)
What I want to study is the most general science/domain there is.

Aww Seth I know you don't mean those childish names. Then again considering you are a child....anyway I got news for you, EVERYBODY has real life issues. And you still made the mistake of using an extremely outdated manager for this game, not to mention your last game just spontaneously dissociated. In any case it's the thought that counts- but we still don't want you scaring away beginners.
