People shouldn't be allowed to simply quit. If they don't want to play any more they should inform the GM who will then simply continue from M1-M2 to M3. That way the other players have the chance to rip him before he quits.

I disagree with both Fredo and Sal here. Val never sent in any orders, why is it fair that somebody like Yaro or Fredo should get an extra bonus for RIPping him when he didn't fight them for it? The whole point to the player RIP bonus is you actually outplay another player and earn a reward, not pick up on some extra supplies out of sheer (gasp!) luck.

They'll still get the supplies though, Val hasn't been removed from the map, just listed as quit. The only difference this makes that I can see is that anyone taking Val's home this turn won't get any rating. Whether they should or not is another matter of course.

Also, consider this, anyone starting near Validon will have had no emails or replies from him, normally this means that he would be treated as a threat, which would then have influenced other diplomacy. If Yaro or Fredo have been forced to give up some neutrals in order to secure peace with another player allowing them to concentrate on Val, shouldn't they get something in return?

Lord Fredo wrote:Ok ... that's kind of what I figured but it's still kind of a bummer since then noone got the chance to finish him off properly.
Don't worry Fredo.......After I am done with VO, I will head that way.

See ya soon........

:) Thanks Allister.

Actually ... I wasn't so much worried about getting any bonuses as much as that you could easily get 5 QUITs in a game that way taking away VPs. I guess then following the logic stated above that this wouldn't be more than fair then. Oh well, just a thought.

Korexus, Validon was active in diplomacy early on (at least with me). I had a NAP with him, and as you suggest let a few neutrals lie for that purpose. Now Fredo or Yaro is welcome to take them as I obviously am busy with AF; I won't say otherwise. But if Val wouldn't have NAPd with VO at all we'd likely have taken AF's offer for NAP, y'know? So while you have a point, it can easliy backfire as well.

In any case, when I run games a player quitting gets manually set to neutral control by me, which means no bonus for the winners. How other GMs handle it is their perogative, but I see no reason to award random bonuses to players just due to sheer luck.

And don't worry, Fredo. Allister at least will get RIPped. 8)

Once Allister defeats me and Gaz which obviously will happen, then it will be a different story.

And don't worry, Fredo. Allister at least will get the RIP bonus on me and maybe on Gaz if Gaz doesn't quit first. 8)

I knew you would see it my way.

That's right, but I see no point in NAPing now since you attacked me.

GM Taker

can you send me my turn report for turn 4 again. Text version if possible.
