It was a hell of a ride, I can tell you that. I predicted that either Massie or Egbert would take me out eventually. This time it was Egbert.

The TKG still made a pretty good run for it. We were targets from the beginning and never had the option to sleep however I admit that we could have made it with a bit more strategic knowledge.

Sorry Massie for that cheap shot. When all comes around I didnt made it anyway.

I guess sleeping is the way to go, right Nemesis?

How's my money doing? Well, it looks like my two bets are still in this thing. If you add up their points they are about equal with the defending Champ. It will be interesting to see which way the wishbone snaps when the NAPs expire.

Maybe, someday, Nemesis will give his clan partners a clue about what is going on behind the scenes here.

Speaking of Nemesis, if anybody has had contact with him over the past week or so, please let me know. I am holding up the Champs game right now because he has gone MIA and is not responding to my mails. I'd hate to see him go M-3 at this point, but if he doesn't get orders in for the current turn, or at least contact me, by tomorrow night, it will go on without him.

..and Eg's armies are nothing to be sneezed at either, considering most of those I've seen are recently are anywhere from LVL 7.8 up to 9.9. But nothing that a few hundred GCAs can't fix.

I think you two should cede the game to me now :D , to save me the trouble of taking it from you after you finish bashing each other senseless.

°° This spell will destroy 46 Points of the Magic resistance.
...you succeed in using the spell on the enemy !
++ You cast the Spell #79-FEAR [0-10% EFF] on Province #6
++ For this Spell your Spell Power translates into 7 Points.
>> The enemy has only 4% Effectiveness left.
++ You destroy 3% Effectiveness from Raw

Egbert, almost unrecognizable, covered in blood and dirt, gazes at the landscape before him. A 7-month battle has taken a toll on his health, as well as the health of what remains of his troops.

Lydell, one of Egbert's closest advisors, puts an arm on the commander's shoulder. "M'lord, I think it is time to start thinking of the unthinkable." Egbert doesn't bother to turn his head. In fact, Lydell thinks he sees Egbert slightly grinning, although it is difficult to tell through the dirt and blood. "Lydell, we are not done yet. Raw is a brave and clever warrior, and his armies seem endless --- but I think they are severely tired --- even more tired than our troops. Have faith, my friend. And now, I will address our troops, and ask them to find it in their hearts to do battle as if there were no tomorrow."

Egbert walks away slowly without looking at his friend. Gandomar, one of the few remaining magicians of what was once a might empire, walks over to Lydell, where Egbert just stood. "Gandomar, I don't understand it," says Lydell gravely, "how he can still believe that he can defeat Raw's army." Gandomar chuckles quietly. "You have not known him as long as I have, Lydell. I will tell you this --- if he is not ready to give up, then he has another trick up his sleeve. Have faith. Have faith."

The troops of Raw are very tired...so tired...so very tired.

Raw looks back to ask how his main force is doing, , where did they go?

I think I may have run out of tricks, but we will see :)!

This has been a great game!

Updated Odds

Egbert 1.01 - 1
Raw 9.99 - 1

Egbert jumps onto a horse, joining his knights. "Let's move out, troops --- we have some unguarded territory to take!"

.........several hours, and 7 provinces later..............

Egbert's trusted advisor, Lydell, rides up alongside the commander. "That was pretty good, Eg --- keeping those troops hidden from Raw's view for such a long time. We are lucky to have kept up our morale for so long, though. But is that really the trick that you were talking about? I would think........"

Lydell is stopped short in midsentence, as Egbert signals to Gandomar in front of a covered wagon. Gandomar pulls back the cover, to reveal bushels and bushels of corn! "I thought there was no more corn anywhere," exclaims Lydell. "How did you do it?" Egbert smiles, dismounts, and starts throwing the corn to his troops. Gandomar laughs heartily. The troops cheer.

This game has it all.

History in the making, no doubt.

Even without seing any turn report I think that maybe Eg tried a tactic I also use from time to time in my games: I call it SCORCHED EARTH (may this expression find its way into the WOK4 glossary) - it basically consists in concentrating your goodies in 1-2 key provinces and then let the enemy grab as many of your other, worthless Provinces as he can. Spy on him as much as possible and try to hit his workers - just do everything you can to bring his EFF down, in any way possible.

When you need 7 or 8 workers for 1% EFF it makes quite a difference if you own 5 or 25 Provinces....

So what is it Eg ? Some form of scorched earth ?

Thats a decent plan, Dark Monk, but there is also another "easier" way to accomplish much the same thing. At least in WOK 5.

Crown your Champ folx, Egbert is the winner again.

I resign as I can see no way for me to win.

Congrats to Egbert and thanks GM Nick for running a great game!

Nick, could you post the data from the neutral provinces from the Champs?
It's been 43 turns, I wonder how they look now.

I'll tell you what that was an awesome game. Both Raw and Egbert fought till the bitter end, but in the end, it was Egbert's ability to keep his EFF up without being able to harvest any corn at all that did it. His use of Rain and Nourish spells, as well as having a large bank account, kept him in business. It all came down to the major battle in which Egbert's knights knocked out Raw's main armies- if Raw would have found those knights just a turn or two sooner we'd likely be crowning a different Champ. Great game to both of you!

And about those neutrals- they aren't really neutrals. They were provinces that belonged to GH before he went QUIT. So I don't really have any stats on them to post, persay.
