Boys, play nicely together.

AG, We certainly appreciate all your efforts to put together an automated WOK 5 game that is as good as the WOK 4 engine. Forgive Smashy if he is just excited about having turns that run on time! Keep up the great work!

That's ok. I was joking anyway.

The files have been uploaded.

Testing continues.

I'm as impatient as the rest of you for this to work. :)

Gaz, maybe Smashie could do your day time job as well than you can devote all your time to EWOK. :D

80 hours a week Smashie...you must be planning to retire at age 35!

I find my 34 hours (which is a full time job here in Holland) more than enough.

Well as the saying goes. We work to live, we don't live to work. :)

Nearly there, folks. Gaz has done superb work on the engine, to the extent that it can now run a believable set of orders. He even managed to work in a 'korexus gets all the provinces' bug which I'm sure will come in handy! Check out what we have so far here.

In an attempt to justify my name being on this project, I've been updating the Lobby so that players can input orders and view reports for Advanced games, just like for Standard games. That's pretty much done now, so over the next couple of days we might be asking you to help us test. :)

Ok folks.

As korexus has pointed out we are now ready for some brave volunteers to test EWOK.

Preference given to experienced WOK5 players and although it may seem that I am being picky it would probably be best if all players were in roughly the same timezones (UK/Poland rather than UK/Australia) so that turns can proceed rapidly.

4 or 5 testers should be plenty (korexus please correct me if you think otherwise).

:)

4 or 5 total should be fine, if we get more volunteers than that or a chunk from two timezones, we could have more than one test running at a time.(I'd hate for the Amreicans to feel left out.)

I guess I should point out that the first few tests are unlikely to get past about turn 3, so it's no use signing up to this to stave off WoK V addiction! As Gaz said, we need you to know WoK V pretty well - otherwise how will you know when it goes wrong?

Oh, and the test games will *not* be for VPs. - I know one of you would try to claim them if I didn't make that clear! :P

I'd be willing to give it a go. After all I think I was in a test game for the original WOK 5 back in the days and played quite a few after that, aahh memories ... :thoughts:
I'll just have go and get a steel brush and some oil to try and get the rust away.

The test has started, players should find all the relavent links in their lobbies. Here's one for anyone who's interested:

I'll stay on messenger and logged into the WoK Chat as much as possible tonight, incase anyone wants to discuss the game.

OK guys, let's do this!
My orders for turn one are in.
For some reason though the "I am ready for this turn to run"-button doesn't seem to work when I try to "Update" the page.

Should work now.

Ahha! now I understand why AG missed his orders for turn2 of trewqhs XGame. Too busy with the start of EWOK. This probably explains the appaul;ing drop out rates in certain other games running presently.

Here we hear the death toll for WOK4 ...

Doubt it, the two versions coexisted for a long time before WoK was automated, I think they'll manage afterwards.

Apart from anything else, it would be impossible to play WoK V if you weren't already quite a strong WoK IV player. The basic system is the same, there's no way you could run an economy if you weren't happy with attacks, missiles, spies, etc.

As for the recent dropouts, Gaz may have an excuse in EWoK, but none of the others. Until today only he and I were working on it...

Aw how did I miss this? :D

Chris is right, there were loads of players who prefered WOK4. Nearly every Clan Champs game was WOK4 because clans didn't have enough WOK5 players.

Saladin is an example of a player that prefers WOK4
