Pop-Up Ads?

Post by Brykovian » Tue May 17, 2005 12:53 pm

I've started getting pop-up ads when viewing these forums lately. Al -- have you subscribed to a pop-up generator in addition to the top-of-the-page banner ads?

It only happens at this site and does so from both home and work. My virus scanner and a couple of anti-spyware scans have come up empty.

Just wondering ... don't mind banner ads, but pop-ups are annoying.

(Although not exactly on-point, I'm expecting to receive advice about pop-up blockers in 5 ... 4 .... 3 ... 2 ... ;))

This is my fault (well, my responsibilty, someone else fault...) Rune and I were chatting a few days ago and decided to add a few more income generating banners to the site. I promptly did so, making sure that I didn't choose any of the pop up options. However, one of the advertisers seems to be breaking the rules and forcing a popup anyway. I'll try to isolate which one it is and remove them. For now I'll just freeze them all...

Uhmm seeing my passion for generating income online for the site I would have at least expected a mail or something about the matter... disturbing !

I love your coding work and all you did for WOKON Chris, but when it comes to banner ads and stuff you touch a very sensitive nerve (with me and some of the members)

Talk to me in chat soon guys, there is some PHPNuke and phpBB updates too we need to get rollin' 8)

Stand up move, korexus, to quickly see, admit, and re-correct the issue ... thanks.

Now ... I'll let Al deal with you.
