Map Assistant and WOK5 Bridges

Post by Brykovian » Mon Oct 25, 2004 10:05 pm

Taker (helping AF with a new map) has pointed something out to me on how the Map Assistant handles WOK5 bridges differently than the WOK5 Game Manager ... you can see more details in the quote below:
I had a WoK GM (GM Taker, for those scoring at home) point out a problem with how the Map Assistant handles WOK5 bridges differently than the WOK5 Game Manager.

The WOK5 INI format allows each province to be connected to only 1 neighbor by a bridge. Also, the WOK5 Game Manager assumes that you'll have perfectly-matching bridge pairs (if province #7 has a bridge to #15, then #15 should have a bridge to #7). The Map Assistant (as of v1.5) does not check/validate for either of these.

This means that you'll be able to define multiple bridges in the Map Assistant and you will get the dreaded "inconsistent behavior" on how the thing will write out the INI file. But, there is a very, very good chance that the Game Manager will not like it ... ;)

This will be addressed in a future version of the Map Assistant.

I guess I just didn't think that it was too big of a deal.

Well, in that case ...

I'd like to publicly note how unhelpful GM Josh has been ... failing to notify me about a potentially huge bug in the software. Lucky for all of us that he wasn't on any of the Y2K teams! ;)

Oh no Matt, you let the secret out. Years of hard work and careful planning down the drain, quicker than Funty gets RIPPED. Curses!!!

Seriously, thanks.
