Yup, my ISP contacted me and explained in a letter that according to their logs they suspect I have down/uploaded material that is in violation with US National copyright laws etc etc etc

Now, I live in Sweden. I am a Swedish citizen. ComHem is my ISP and they are a Swedish company originated from Telia which used to be owned by the Swedish Government.

In what way does US National laws apply here? Anyone?

After a few days I gave up discussing it. They even admit that they doesnt have anything that binds me legally to any misbehavior since they cant pin my designated IP to it. (Since I scramble it on that computer and it looks as I am in the Cayman Islands)

Anyway, I am back up. I called in a friend of a friend and with his help we hacked the modem and messed about in the DOCSIS so now I have a tap right into the ISP Nod.....well I dont. My neighbour does.... 8)

Sorry for going M-1 in the WOK5 game but it is all good now.

I know that you are technically in the right on the copyright issue*, but you have to wonder if it is worth it...

For the record, you are 100% in the wrong with stealing your neighbours connection, so don't complain to us when you end up in jail...

* Actually not entirely. Piracy is still illegal in Sweden, it's just that no one seems to enforce that law. I know that TPB are currently expecting a court case about whether hosting bittorrent trackers is legal or not. I wouldn't be suprised if your ISP was just covering itself in case that case goes against the pirates. I guess asking you to stop based on a current law in another country is slightly stronger than a possible future law in your own country...

Funny, and here I thought Sweden was where all the internet companies with US customers incorporated their businesses to avoid pesky US copyright laws. Who knew? 8)

He ALWAYS steals my parkingspot since it is closer to his house so I am returning the favour. Eye for an.....well not eye really but something like that.

He downloads more movies then I do (I've checked his modemlog) so it isnt like I am sticking it to someone innocent.

Oh and to make it "fair" we have a sort of lottery every year about those parkingspots. The area involved has 20 houses and combined parkingspace/heating/tv etc.

I am in charge of that lottery.

No, I wouldnt dream of rigging it. 8)

Remember folks, it isnt a crime if you dont get caught.
