trewqh's unofficial Duel-Lite Hall of Records

Post by trewqh » Wed Jun 13, 2007 8:56 am

In this thread I intend to record the outcomes of Lite-Duel games along with the numbers of games played by players and such. Rules of who's better than whom are still a work in progress. If someone wants to suggest a formula or anything they are welcome, but to cut any discussion on how 'fair' these standings might be I'd like to accentuate that this is my thread and the standings are in no way official. This thread shows the effect of my work which I decided to share with the community.

Code: Select all

                           DUEL-LITE TABLE

20. GM Mike's Duel-Lite Center Island BigJOzzy v Hannibal - Hannibal beat BigJOzzy in Feb 2008

Note that Ultyguy, with a first game and one win, rocketed up to 5th in the table. If he wins his second game, he'll advance to LEV 1.667 and RAT 68 and advance to second in the table...

So, other people, join in while you can still rocket up the table!

Currently running games:

None at the moment, but pending a challenger.

Upcoming games:

Hryllantre against any challenger, as semi-final, to then take on Ultyguy, for the right to challenge AG for the crown.

Then Ultyguy against Hryllantre ... or whoever beats Hryll in the other semi.

Then Aussie Gaz defending his crown against whoever gets through to challenge him. I.e. probably Hryllantre ... no, Ultyguy ... no, the guy who joins in, beats Hryllantre, beats Ultyguy, and then takes on AG for the crown! Want to be that out-of-the-blue challenger and winner?!? 3 games and you're the 2008 champ? Volunteer at the bottom of this thread!

I knew keeping that 'work in progress' note was necessary. :)

Han pointed to a mistake and suggested improvements. Check out the Full Duel standings thread for more details.

HA! HA! HA!

It would not be a bad thing if I had won more than I have lost
Perhaps I can manage to lose the current one v Dragonette.

I'm not having a very successful day turn report wise glad nothing else is running today ... sheesh.

Well now I am 3 and 3. A three RoboRIP victory over Dragonette in Crosslands. This was a horror story for me early doors when I decided to attack two robo's head on. I won't do that again. One position never had a chance from then and the other, well, came back from one province with 1 POP 22 WOK and 8 ARM to secure victory.

At the time of writing this poor Dragonette hasn't seen the latest turn results because she is out with her mates. I feel SOooooo guilty (not)

And AG just took me down a peg or two. A three robo victory for him drops me back to -1 overall. It is enough to make you reach for a bucket!

Congrats to AG.

A LEV rating was added. :)

Currently, the chart is organised accroding to:
1) 'LEV' column
2) 'played' column
3) head-to-head rule (in case two players who faced eachother in the past have te same LEV and no. of games played, the player who emerged victorious more times in their Duels goes above the other player)
4) recency (more recent result goes above the older result)

Comments are welcome!

Am I correct in assuming that LEV is calculates as 1 + won / (played + 1)?

I like the idea of 1 as the minimum (instead of 0, which you can get by not playing at all) and the tie in with armies' level in WoK, but I should point out that this only gives a value between 1 and 2, You could make it fit the theme even more if you did something like multiply the wins by 9. Although that may be getting needlessly complicated as it just spaces people out, without adding any extra differention.

That's right. And I did include a legend under the chart. :P

Thanks for pointing that out. It looks nice the way it is now, I think, so I'll leave it the way it is for now. But once we have more games finished and more players on the chart I may use your idea to spread out the ratings.

Just to offer an update to your sticky-table.

As far as I know, no more finished games, but 2 games to add under "Currently Running Games" :

GM Han Duel-Lite #36 Suburbia Semi Aussie Gaz v TBert
GM Han Duel-Lite #37 Suburbia Semi trewqh v Yondallus

OK?

The focus has switched to Duel-Lite! There is a mini-knockout between the above four undefeateds at Duel-Lite, Aussie Gaz, TBert, trewqh and Yondallus (all played 1, won 1). The winners of the two semis play each other in the final. So, one of them, and only one, MUST emerge with a 100% record of played 3 won 3 - the current Champ of Duel-Lite.

And, also, I'm part way through organising a second Duel-Lite mini-knockout - between four veteran WOK-players who are trying Duel-Lite for the first time! Any 4 out of currently-dipping-in BigJ, Duke, Calidus, Lardmaster, Brykovian, Nemesis, Lord Fredo and Nestalawe. All of whom are good players of WOK, but have not tried translating it to Duel-Lite yet. One of them, and only one, will emerge with a 100% record of played 2 won 2.

You can guess what comes next .... The 100% 2 out of 2 challenges the 100% 3 out of 3 ... Then the rest of us can join in. Me, I want to challenge the loser of that "final" for the right to challenge or rematch against the winner of that final ... Etc.

Finally found time to update.

Thanks Han for the reports!

Due to the fact that I have much less time for WoK these days, from now on only the games that are reported here will be added to the table. Anyone can report (doesn't have to be the GM or one of the involved players).
