I have to say I'm not guilty of those names, although I have used player names to create province ones before. Most of my provincial naming comes from some inspiration, usually either a game or a book. It's not easy naming 70 provinces let me tell ya! 8)

I seem to remember looking at a turn report from Count Henri, before he went AWOL, where all the provinces were named for people or places from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. Was that designed by you, Nick, by any chance?

Which map was that Korexus?

BTW any chance of you making a Wheel of Time Wok 5 game Nick? I'd join for sure! :D

Well, if I knew which map it was then I'd know who made it!

However, I have nothing better to do this morning, so I'll take a look...

...

Yup, I was right, it was a GM Nick map. "Padacio" has a strong Wheel of Time theme running through the province names. There's a couple in there that I don't recognise, but it has been a long time since I read that series now. Also most of the provinces are named after people, not places, within the Wheel of Time world. So I guess it's not meant to be a map of the series or anything.

A Wheel of Time themed X-Game would be fun though! - I just love the idea of half my mages going insane on me! :?

Surely "Ar-Sereg" was a giveaway?

Two things. First, it was indeed my Padacio map that had provinces named after WoT characters and places. There's several more out there based off of other series of books or games I have played, too. Wheel of Time was at one time my favorite series, until Jordan got too carried away with the plot and made things too complicated so he could sell more books. I didn't even bother reading the latest book, although I may when it comes out in paperback.

Second, "Ar-Sereg" is in no way based off of "Aes Sedai", although I could see why one might think so. Ar-Sereg is actually a fusion of terms from Tolkein's Quenya (high elven) tongue. "Ar" was a prefix used to indicate nobility or high birth, and "sereg" meant blood. (No, I don't speak Quenya, I looked it up online of course!) So, Ar-Sereg mean "those of noble blood" or something along those lines.

And regarding coming up with a Wheel of Time map, it's not a bad idea at all. But, I am going to wait until two things happen before I open another game. First, I want at least one of my current games to finish. Second, I want to join as a player at least one more WOK 5 game. Once both of those happen I am going to look to creating another WOK 5 game. I'm likely going to cut back to just normal WOK 5 games at least for the summer, since I'm fairly busy. In any case my current favorite in terms of authors is George R.R. Martin and his "Song of Fire and Ice" series, which is simply excellent. However I imagine that many more people have read Jordan than Martin, so I may go with that world instead. Either those, or perhaps Eddings or McCaffrey....I dunno, maybe I'll start a series of fantasy book-themed maps. :)

Yeah!

You should contact the publishers as your giving their books great free advertising...maybe you can get some money out of it. :D

*Nick on the phone with one of the authors*

Hey now I think I should get some sort of precentage out of your annual income. I made a map and used your copyrighted names on the provinces and a bunch of people who refuses to grow up and instead play a turnbased internet game during workhours sees the names I have stolen from you on their turnreports.

My attorneys will contact you shortly and tell you how big your fine will be *click*

What?!

*Starts looking around on the Kaomaris website*

Egberts number HAS to be around here. I am sure that he signed up as a Kaocon. He'll get me out of this for sure.

Saladin used the quote tool. I suggest you click on the quote button (that is in the top rigt corner of each post) of Saladin's post, look inside an learn by yourself. I'll just say that to input that command you have to use a button in the post editing window marked 'Quote' or press alt+q.

Hope that helps,

OK, I looked into Saladin's post myself and noticed that it wasn't the qoute tool but the code tool that actually works much the same.

59 armies at level 1.112? Is that all Funty has?

Hehe...if only i was a bit closer to him i'd rip right through that. :D

Of course the longer people wait the more and more armies Funty can build...so get of your seats lazy bums and send some men to their doom! :P
