Okay, I have opened a new WOK game. I have changed the default parameters a bit, to make the game more fair and challenging, as I did in my previous game. Here are the important changes:
Long Range missiles now go to 2 provinces away max, instead of 3.
The most number of armies which can be killed by 1 missile is 3, instead of 5.
You only need 6 workers to raise EFF 1 point, instead of 8 workers.
Spying effects on EFF have been reduced to 1% up or down.
You now start with more workers and armies.
All of these changes should show up in the House Rules.

Please sign up only if you plan on playing, and not going "missing in action." Thanks.

When you say that you have been "unsuccessful," what do you mean? Does the turn report say that it is not allowed? Also, are you talking about my previous game in which I changed the missile parameters, or just the rules generally?
I have rewritten (in draft form) the Standard WOK Manual. There is a thread for it on these boards, and I was hoping to get some discussion on it. You can find the missile explanation there.

Headhunting is attacking other player's starting province on turn 1.
This rule was introduced to protect the players who are early in the OoP on turn 1. They don't have to worry that when they use all of their armies to attack neutrals on turn 1 then someone might take their undefended starting province.
If you think about spies then disallowing headhunting protects the same players from potentially having their EFF brought down.
Forgive me if I'm not making sense today.

Oh, and I just applied for this game. I have never gone M-3 ever and can only remember missing 2 turns since spring of -99 BUT I might be harder to reach then usual. I have a whole bunch of people to edjucate in the coming three weeks so I have limited access to the web. I will try to reply to NAP-emails and such as soon as possible. (if any are being sent to me).
A question about the rules: Do I get seven extra men at the beginning of each turn if I hang on to central and east Asia? Will the cards with the horses and cannons and that stuff be emailed to me or?
To all of you that usually end up in third place: Be afraid, be very afraid. You are looking at the champion of third places.

First one here, last one to leave.

Headhunting with attacks = typing an attack order against a home province on turn 1.Hryllantre wrote:These are taken from the house rules:-
Headhunting with attacks is NOT allowed in this game.
Headhunting with missiles is NOT allowed in this game.
Headhunting with spies is NOT allowed in this game.
What does this mean?
I think it relates to first turn attacks but please clarify
Headhunting with missiles = typing a missile order against a home province on turn 1.
Headhunting with spies = trying to steal pop from/sabotage defenses or sabotage missiles in a home province on turn 1. (I do not like the way this is phrased as it suggests that you can't spy on a home province, which you can, alternative suggestions gratefully received.)
If you try to do one of the above, the game engine will simply ignore that order (although, in the case of attacks it is still counted towards your maximum number of attacks.)

And it looks that I was deceived by this phrasing when writing about protection against EFF loss.korexus wrote:Headhunting with spies = trying to steal pop from/sabotage defenses or sabotage missiles in a home province on turn 1. You've probably already tried this, but just in case...
Clicking on a player's name brings up some (vaguely accurate) stats on that player. One of the things listed is their current email address (as far as the forums know). If players keep the email address associated with their account up to date (Your account -> Your Info to change it) then keeping in contact should be nce and easy.
