GM'ing WOKON

Post by Yarosund » Fri Jun 03, 2005 4:50 pm

I am a bit lazy, and I do not allways pay attention to what is happening on the boards.
WOKON seems a great idea, and I would like to get involved.
I can see that I have access to the GM'ing of WOKON via GM Stephen (although this seems to be set up as GM Steve, but I can live with that).

My question is, Is it OK for me to start running WOKON games?. Can I just set up a waitlist?, or do I need to obtain permission beforehand?.

Sorry, if I seem a little ignorant, but the WOKON boards seem to contain a lot of info, and I am not one for reading thiings. (Yep, I am just annoying).

Cheers

Stephen/Yarosund

It is now possible for you to set up waitlists again as hopefully I will have time to madly dash around fixing stuff as it goes wrong, but thanks for asking first - I appreciate it!

I've written a basic GM guide to the WoK-On engine, -mainly to cover what the various options mean, I can send you a copy if you like.

As for your name, we should be able to put whatever you like in there, so I can change it if you like...

Email me if yu have any questions/problems and if you get an error message, send it to me!

Thanks for the swift reply Chris

I am looking forward to giving WOKON a go

I have mentioned this to my clan members and new players that I have had contact with.

I think I will test it out with 1 group, and then maybe try a 2nd if the 1st game gets going quickly.

Cheers

Can you send me the GM guide? I am getting bored. Time to start a game.

It's so easy

Eggy

You should give it a go.

GM'ing WOKON is so easy.

Basically, you set up the game, wait for it to fill up, then sit back and relax as there is really nothing else (much) for the GM to do.

:-)

I heard the same thing from Sal. But how do the turns get run? Do I need to update anything using html? I am a bit rusty on that.

Nope, you don't have to do everything. Everything is automated even the commentary. Of course you can decide to add some more commentary in the commentary box, but only if you really really want to. :D

I'm away from my uni computer for the next couple of weekss. I believe Sal and Taker have a copy of the guide they could send you. Not that it says much as yet, it's only a draft copy...

Well, I guess I'm just not that smart. :)

I thought I set up a game, but it is not showing up in the database. Also, when I try to put commentary in, it says that I am trying to use illegal html tags. Hmmm. :?

You've got imported tags from Cuba. That wont do. Of course they are illegal. Shheesch, using tags that has drifted in from the sea. You of all people should know better.

lol! So, Duke, where can I get some good tags?

Seriously, though --- I have created a game with a map, but how in the heck do I "put it on the board" so everyone can see it? There's no button for that. I can see the game, but I guess no one else can.

Eg, did you press the 'set up game' button at the bottom next to the Expert settings button?

Now it's really time I started posting again...

You may have to add a player to the game before it shows up in the games list. This is due to an error in my list-all-games script - it assumes all games has at least one player. 8)

So, if you need a player, add me!

Pardon me while I bang my head against this wall..............

....................there, that's better.

Let's see now. I already did everything Sal said, and I did click the "Set Up Game" button about a week ago. I can see the game, and the map. It shows that there is no one playing, and it has a screen for commentary. I can no longer add anyone to the game. No one else can see the game.

I know............. I must be in The Twilight Zone (cue music)..... :puzzle:

What the heck am I doing wrong? Why can't anyone else see this game?

Eg, create a new game and add at least 1 player to the game before pressing the set up game button. :)
