We have a NAP breaker(s) in the house in this game............
This/these individual(s) assumed something and decided to handle it their own way.
What a bad decision they have made as they will soon find out.
No names are mentioned since this is still confidential.....

Allister is talking about me.
I spied him this turn.
The reason:
Me and Grave Maker got spied 10 times a few turns back when Griffon was the only player in the game who, according to our naps, was allowed to spy on us. Given the Oop of that turn it was either Allister or one other player. A similar thing happened a few turns later. Me and Grave Maker considered confronting Allister with this, but when I read over our nap agreement again I realised that we had not specified any conditions for our nap. Normally one would assume that "lets have a nap", "ok", includes not being allowed to spy on each other, but given the evidence we had, we came to the conclusion that Allister was trying to use the loophole in our nap agreement, i.e. the we never specifically said "no spying".
So this turn I decided to spy on him.
Allister obviously claims that he never spied on me or GM, hence
that would mean that apart from me there is also another nap breaker in this game.
I feel sorry about what happened. I didn't mean to break the nap. If Allister really didn't spy on us then I certainly handled it the wrong way.
(Also me and Allister should probably have stated exact terms of our nap agreement to avoid this problem).

Did the NAP say no attacking, how about no missiles?Xarfei wrote:Allister is talking about me.

Well now I know at least one person is on my side............
Let me put it this way:
If there is anyone out there that has ever signed a NAP with Xarfei or whoever and has allowed the other person to spy them whenever they want, please speak up.
I can assure you that no one will say that this is allowed.
You are trying to use "technicalities" to make yourself look innocent when in reallity you are 100% wrong and there is nothing left to do but take care of the problem my way.
See ya soon!

Not really trying to look inocent...Xarfei wrote:I feel sorry about what happened. I didn't mean to break the nap. If Allister really didn't spy on us then I certainly handled it the wrong way.

That's an agreement. Spying is not normally allowed in NAPs. However Xarfei and GM believed, rightly or wrongly, that you had already broken the NAP or that you were trying to use a loophole such as spying not being mentioned to claim that it was ok.Xarfei wrote:Normally one would assume that "lets have a nap", "ok", includes not being allowed to spy on each other.
Either you did spy on Xarfei earlier in the game, in which case he's justified in spying on you or you did not in which case he isn't. Xarfei and GM should have mailed you askig what was going on when they suspected you of NAP breaking. If you're going to yell at them, yell about that instead of arguing with things that they're not saying.

I am not saying that I am "innocent".
I am just trying to explain why I did what I did. Fair enough if you don't believe my explanation or if you don't think it makes any difference.

PS: A few players appear to have broken naps via spying in this game.
Another player (not sure if I should mention his name, so I won't) complained to me and GM that we had spied him 10 times (here is an example of a nap that did allow spying (very unusual)). He was pissed off about this since we had sort of agreed to use less then 10 spy orders on him. But in fact me and Grave Maker had only spied him 8 times. Accoring to that player, we were the only ones that were allowed to spy him....
(I am not trying to use this as an excuse for what I did)

Someone spied X and I around turn 8. So, AF, if it is OK with you, can we ask GM Raw to tell us if you did or not? Very simple way to clear yourself of any wrong doing, given you never did answer my direct question on if you did spy us or not.
X and I both thought the nap included spying - strange request, but it was the second request for this type of nap in this game. So I thought this was a new trend. NAP or Non-Aggression Pacts, mean no aggression. Gathering intelligence is not aggression (albeit a pre-cursor to aggression)

Per your question earlier in the forum. Griffon has entered into a similar agreement in this game with both X and I. This works well for me in the sense that I do not have enough WOK to keep my EFF up and build up the military so owning 6 proviences and sending a few spies out keeps my EFF up. I assume this was Griffons reasoning as well.Let me put it this way:

I think that would be crossing a very dangerous line. I would assume there is some rule against this type of thing.Grave Maker wrote:Someone spied X and I around turn 8. So, AF, if it is OK with you, can we ask GM Raw to tell us if you did or not?

Please.
I would certainly consider that a "attack" on EFF.Grave Maker wrote: NAP or Non-Aggression Pacts, mean no aggression. Gathering intelligence is not aggression (albeit a pre-cursor to aggression)
