need some information

I was going through kaobase and saw some strange things I would like some explanation for:

1: there are 16 games in kaobase, with 4 of em finished and 25 GMs, what's up with that? I thought GMs were supposed to host games? Ok you can say that some of em are a bit busy now and have no time to host a game, but will open a new one when things clear up for them, but half of them? That seems a little bit hard for me to understand. Maybe there's some kind of limit to the amount of games? Help me out here?I know I'm new and I don't want to say that they should be removed or something, just wanted some explanation on that, especially as I see a Hold option on 2 of them.

2: I looked at Doms game: the deadline was somewhere in november and Andys game deadlines are in january. Did they forget to change the deadline or have those games become inactive?

3: am I correct if I say that all GMs are also players? Does that mean that anyone can become a GM if he or she wants to?

I hope someone can clear this up for me. Please reply here or send me an email or add me to msn and explain it there :)

I'm just curious, I don't want to be all naggy and stuff. I don't know anything about these things.

Your future champ(in 2100 perhaps;))

GMs are purely volunteers. Most of us like to keep games open in the hope that other people do the same and we can all play. But it's better not to open a game at all than open one if you're not going to be able to do it justice. Also some of the other GMs in that list aren't exactly "active" imho...

Andy opened games when he wasn't able to do them justice. I believe that his group 5 was settled by a vote. His group 6 wasn't. I'm still sore about that!
Dom's gone off to be a soldier, so that game probably won't get finished now either... :(

A player can email GM Al and ask to be made a GM. If he agrees then he sends out all the stuff needed to run games. There's no actual requirement for a GM to be a player, but if they haven't at least been players in the past then there is no guarentee that they will stick around so Al may be less willing to agree. (As you can imagine, if a GM disapears half way through a game, it is very irritating for the players!)
