The Iraqi Deck of Cards

Post by Egbert » Tue Apr 22, 2003 7:02 pm

I am a collector/pack rat at heart, and I also collect playing cards. Is there anyone who knows how I can get my hands on a genuine deck of cards that the U.S. army gave to everyone of the 55 most wanted Iraqis? I receive plenty of spam email saying they'll sell me the decks, but these are probably knockoffs.

:?
Well, that's one of the sites which sends me spam email. That's the thing --- I don't know which decks are scams, and which aren't.

http://www.usplayingcard.com/iraqdeck.html

"The United States Playing Card Company is
pleased to present this commemorative
reproduction of the Iraqi Most Wanted playing
card deck. This deck was first issued by the
Defense Intelligence Agency and U.S. Central
Command in April, 2003."

This place claims to manufacture them, and seems like a pretty big company.

However, if you want one of the real original decks, well, there were only 200 of those produced, and I'm sure those soldiers aren't giving them up.
