Could do with a couple of testers.

I've spent the last week porting a trimmed down version of the Standard WoK engine to the facebook platform.

The version will allow people to play WoK against friends on facebook, using the default settings only. I'm hoping that this will serve as a platform for recruitment. It's also allowed me to re-write some bits, such as a new select box based saof.

The app is currently in dev mode, so no one can add it (I think) unless I make them a developer. What I need is a couple of people to help me test out all the game functions work as expected.

Any takers?

I'd be more than willing to help, but only after the exam session is over, that is in 3 or 4 weeks. I should be available for most of the summer vacation period.

Does that work for you?

Probably. I haven't got the commentary sorted yet, so there's still a bit of time before kick off. I'm sure I can find work for testers before that too though. 8)

Winning games here or winning them in Facebook is the same to me. So count me in! 8)

I've added Smashy, LM and Mullog as developers. I also added Hryll as he'd somehow spotted the application and made himself a fan. Mike, I need you to be my friend before I can add you.

I've also set up a test game, with Smashface, Mullog, Lardmaster and myself. I doubt we'll finish the game, but it would be useful to play through a few turns just to check that everything works properly. - The games will not run automatically (yet) so I'll set up an email to help us keep track of what's going on.

You may need to add the application before you can play. (Not entirely sure how the facebook system works.) It's available through http://aps.facebook.com/kaomaris/ take a look around.

Are we putting coments on here? If so the yellow and green on a white background in the turn report is awful :?

Comments here or by email. Either suits me!

I think the white background will have to stay, so that the application looks right within Facebook. Do you have a preference for what I should change the text colours to?

i think wat you've go so far is fine, the AOF isn't quite functional yet, i have my starting prov of 57, but no list of where i can attack to.

also i think there needs to be a super explicit opening page detailing the game so it isn't so confusing.

Aha, I've found a bug that means the clever updates don't work in IE6. By any chance, is that the browser that you're using?

Unfortunately, this is a bug within IE and Facebook's suggested fix is to get users to upgrade. I'll modify the script so that all provinces are selectable for you folks with stone age software. :P

I'll gladly play a game or two on facebook but does that mean I'll have to add both smashie and trewqh as friends

When you sign up for Groups and organisations etc on facebook the examples are groups that your existing friends are members of, that's how I found you.

Life's got a bit crazy recently, with new jobs and new houses all coming my way, so I haven't actually done much on this. I still need to figure out a way for poor ie6 users to use the AOF.

The way the system works is that the player who sets up a game can add his/her friends. These people don't need to be friends with each other, but would only be able to send messages to their friends within the game.

This link doesn't work for me.

Also, the only result I get when searching for 'kaomaris' is Chris' profile.

The system is hidden until I have time to look at it again. I shall add trewqh and Hryll as soon as start developing again...
