Map maker needed

Post by Saladin » Tue Jun 19, 2007 9:30 am

Hi,

I'm in search of the map maker that Bryk has made. If you've got it please mail it to me or post the link here. THANKS!

Just to have the link inside this thread, you can find it here:
http://www.mwgames.com/_ufiles/WOKMapAssistantSetup.exe

I'm working up a new version that will update the WOK4/5 references to the now-accepted "Standard WOK" and "Advanced WOK" ... and some other new goodies. If there is anything with the current version that doesn't seem to work right ... or if you have additional enhancements/suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks,

Not an important improvement but one that could save time would be if you could just put in all the pop per province in a long list on one page. You could then just tab to the next province, put it in and on to the next. It would save about 120 mouse clicks, so it would be a time saver. :)

I suppose a grid for entering all of the province data (Name, Terrain, POP, City) would be a good thing, eh?

Brykovian

It has been a long time since I ran a WOK5 game but I seem to recall a problem with the naming of the maps.

The Mapmaker Pro program in the WOK5 engine looks for the bitmap in the format WOK5_xxx.bmp where xxx is the game number.

The ini file is WOK5-xxx.ini.

I seem to recall that your program preferred the - rather than the _ in the map name.

Please ignore if I am wrong.

AG ...

I think that was a problem in an earlier version. For loading, I got around it by having the person pick the exact files for each the bitmap and the INI when working on an existing map.

For saving ... hmmmm ... I'll have to check what it's doing. It probably is saving the INI file as the same exact naming style as the BMP ... you would then have to hand-edit the file name before having it work with the engine.
