Hello all - Please READ ME

Post by Vortan » Tue Apr 17, 2007 9:01 pm

Hello to all who I haven't yet 'spoken' with. I am Vortan (aka Simon) and a newbee playing Risk World 9 as my first attempt.

My daughter will also be playing under her own 'handle' which she has decided on yet and you have MY WORD that her behaviour and communications will be monitored closely. NB Only one of us will be playing in individual games so no duplicity can be suspected.

If you are uncertain whether you are playing against myself (Simon) or my daughter (Danielle) just ask. Although I would hope to be so tactically superior to her it should be obvious but as she has just beaten me to a pulp in Heroes 5 I think I shall withhold judgement.

Anyhow, I intended to keep this as short as possible so thats enough. And may the best Vortan win.

Vortan. Sounds Dutch to me. But then that's just because it looks vaguely German but doesn't mean anything I can think of, so I go for Dutch. My assumption that 'Vortan' is a word at all could be completely out of course...

Wow, I should use my geeky tools more often! I checked Vortan's IP and found that another player has posted from the same place. Twice. None other than...

... korexus!

Now either Vortan is the alter ego that even *I* don't know about or I've checked these forums from his house. (Or he just lives near and has the same provider as someone whose internet connection I've used in the past, but that's less of a fun explanation...)

Small world, maybe.

Well thanks all (I think) for the welcomes. To answer the questions LM is correct in saying I am from Yorkshire and the day of our independance IS close at hand! Long live the Yorkshire Revolutionary Army!

DUTCH?? Now I don't have anything against the dutch - but how can a name of LEGEND be unknown? I ran a group in an 80's PBM called World of Vengeance. Vortan (me) was leader of a fifty strong GRAND ALLIANCE, well until the nearest 'Allies' decided a change of leader was in order an I was annihilated totally (sob.... I will have my revenge!!! One day)

I dont know how old Korexus is but JUST HOW OLD DO YOU THINK I AM?
No DONT answer that cos I am ONLY 40 (only?!?!? F* I mean flipping heck)

Anyway long live WOK I think I will be a pain in your posteriors for many years to come.

Both, korexus and myself are much younger, but don't worry, these days with your 40 you are still below the WOK player average age.

Or is it just my impression?

Most of us are NOT as old as you would like to make us out to be.....Although Underpants might be close.....

Although, 40 doesn't look so bad as it once did. :batangel:

Vortan

You are not even close to the oldest.

I have just turned 45 (on the 4th), my babies are 23 and 20...and I am pretty sure I am not the elder statesman of WOK.

Well, I am a little younger than AG (turn 36 in may). I think Bjorn (Underpants Big Bro may beat out AG for old fart) It's just he's currently on hiatus.....

Bonsiour Vortan

Welcome to WoK,

As you can see I am neither French nor good at speeling.

I wasn't sure who was the oldest Brit playing WoK but I now know it isn't me :@)

Happy hunting in your first WoK game and Bon Luck...

36 in November...
