Alrighty then. Some quick mail-exchange with Kalim (probably a 14-year old living in his mothers basement) and we have ourselves 25 new players.
For it to count they have to actually place themselves on a waitinglist to a group so if this works we should get 25 new players this way. If we can get 10 of those to stay I say that it was 25 bucks well spent.

By the way, is there any way to make the new visitors document a webpage or a word file? I had problems downloading the PDF, I couldn't get it to work. I frequently have problems with Adobe files; I personally despise the format and I know I'm not the only one. I bring this up because our new VO member was looking for how to offiicially join, and I had to dig around the website a bit before I could help him. For all I know, the "new visitors" link MIGHT have helped him, but since I couldn't download it I'll never know for sure. I am very much in favor of putting it online and not making it a download; that better reflects the nature of the WOK community I think.

While looking at the stats for the pages I came across the list of search keyphrases that led people to our site. We have som very interesting stuff here:
tanuk tanuk tan 6 %
wok history 4 %
wippo 3.5 %
dark stone 2.5 %
x-game 1.5 %
spycode 1.5 %
powered by phpbb 2.0.2 porn 1.5 %
phpbb2 2.0.10 2001 2002 porn 1 %

Al is lost in Warcraft-land. If I knew any programming, I'd update WOK 5 and/or WOK ON myself, but really I'm just a simple man. A simple, irritated, man, but a simple man just the same.

oh you're a man? Hm, well if you say so.
Seriously, enough with the wok5 engine babble. Korexus has already said that he would fix it for the online version so I dont see the problem.
The true problem is that we only have like a third of page hits last month compared to what we had in february this year. We REALLY need more active players.

The problem is that Korexus is a slacker, that's what the problem is!Duke wrote: Seriously, enough with the wok5 engine babble. Korexus has already said that he would fix it for the online version so I dont see the problem.
I do agree WOK has been pretty low-key lately, but with Al missing you have to admit that's a pretty strong driving force that we're left without. The rest of us just have to pick up the slack, I guess.

Hmm Dameon calling me a "strong driving force" made me post in here again
Im still watching things from a distance... and while I dont want to break your enthusiasm in marketing Dukie I do have lenghty (and often painful) experience in the "paid-to" online marketing business - the old chaps will remember my "come on sign up for this and that" tries to bring us csdh, visitors and new players.
A few words of advice: paid-to-signup is useless and most expensive, you will gain like ZERO new real players. From all your actions I would only say targeted banners can have some kind of impact. The whole paid-to business is on the brink of scamming people that invest in it - I would rather go and give out flyers at game fairs (like you used to do in the old days )

The Emperor has returned!! The magical sarcasms from good ol' Nick brought him out from the shadows.
Plays that flagwaving song from Last night of the Proms (pomp and circumstance?? or something).
Woooeeeeee!!
Ok, to the issue.
Yes I agree that the sign-up guys are a bit but I had to try it out first. Cant just jump to conclusions and assume that they have weapons of mass destruction.....wait no, I'm mixing things here.
What if I pay you to hand out flyers Al? You can get one dollar per 100 flyers handed.
The thing I am currently looking at is advertising in hotmail or Yahoo. You could get a fairly good deal for quite a normal amount of money.
I am not saying that this is the way to go Al. I am simply trying to boost our odds of surviving here.

I wonder if we could kidnap Al and make him work on the WOK community again? I'm sure we have some players from mainland Europe that'd be up for some cloak-and-dagger stuff, right?
