recriutment

Post by Warped Angel » Sun Jun 05, 2005 10:03 pm

I just put a link to kaomaris in my sig on another board that I frequent in an attempt to recruit some players into the First Family. Then I was thinking hmmmm what will these people think when they follow this? sssoooo guess what I did next............. yup I followed the link and was trying to pretend I was a complet noob with no idea of where I was going(kind of like me in everyday life) well guess what, I was like what the hell is this place? the sight is dangnabbit nice but to a complete noob it isn't very easy to figure out that this is a cool strategy game to play, with interesting people from all over the world. Maybe something should be done to really get peoples attention once they get here. I can see people being like what the freak? then going away.

Yep, I had exactly the same feedback when I directed some potentials to the site a while back. Not one of them wanted to join in, they all got lost in the site and couldn't see the game for the trees.....

So, best try, I then wrote that "New Visitors look here!" tab, in order to at least give them a sense of the game and tell them how to join a clan and how to join in ........ Not 100%, but tackling the same problem? Then there's the problem of retention ..... a different story.

OK, not 100%, but I put in some effort and tried.

This is why I feel that they should be directed to an actual person.

The link for new players isn't very noticeable at the moment, plus it says wok4 and no new player will actually know what wok 4 is.

There should be a new first page when you go to www.kaomaris.com that tells in short what the game (wok 4) is and tells a little something about the community and the clans. That should be the very first thing somebody sees when they come to www.kaomaris.com.

Also the menu is very hard to comprehend.

It think it would be better if it just consisted of the following:

Home
+GAME AREA+ (which folds open and shows:)
- WOK 4 (being wok-on)
- WOK 5 (being kaobase 1)
- WOK Species
- etc.
Clans
Scores
Forum
Chat

That's it. It would be much more comprehensible i feel.

BTW if you guys need any help with maintaining the website i'm more than happy to help. Just let me know!

Yes, a giant button always enhances the outline of the page.

I say that if the noobs are that stupid that they cant figure out how the heck the play this game then they are too stupid to be an real challange on the battle field  *ducks down*

You've managed to overcome those odds Dook, I'm sure others can too.

Han sent me an updated version of the New Visitors Look Here - document, so I made a pdf out of it and replaced the old one.
Take a look! :D

Uhm thanks Rune, but as I had pointed out a few times Id really like to see a non-PDF version popping up WITHIN the sites design (within a new window just like when you watch your turn report).

The same goes for the WOKON manual.

Can you do us that favor and make it so we can read those things without the need of a PDF and without the need to leave the WOKON environment ?

You would make an old man happy. :)

PS: your little girl looks cuter every day !
