While my hate for messengers is well known I thought it was time to install some "serious" software - thus Skype made its way to my desktop.

Any WOKer can reach "gmalex" with a little bit of luck there now.

Any other fellows using Skype plz post here !

I've just looked at this and I'll stick to messengers. I have a cell phone I can use, and a computer for messengers... Don't need both again

. I'm curious as to the cost of "Skypes" though. I didn't look to in-depth into it.

Skype basically is Voice over IP (VOIP). Between 2 PCs that have it installed its absolutely FREE, so basically you can talk with your fellows WOKers without paying for it (or needing to type while a messenger installs its spyware

)
With SkypeOut you can now also call any fixed connection from your PC, around the world. US/Europe/Australia etc. all cost 2 cent a minute basically, which is quite good for long-distance calls (ie. if you US guys would call an Aussie)

The prime use however is to place calls between 2 PCs, for free.

PS: it comes from the guys who initially invented Kazaa.

I don't think I even have a mic on my laptop. I did on my last one but I don't see the little notch for it... I think it's better that everyone doesn't know how much of a dumbarse I am... beyone what I type anyway...

Yes I use Skype on occasion. It's pretty good for instance when ever I play network games with my friends. You can reach me under "kommando-k" if you please.

I just had a conference call with Lord Fredo and Smashie on Skype, and that was really FUN.

Even works as messenger, as you can send files and text messages. I can only encourage you all to install and use it, its much better then our messy chatroom... it will also come in handy to have it running while we play some online game together (like WoW or GuildWars), no more need to have Teamspeak running for me

Plz post your usernames so we can invite you all to the WOK freak show on Skype

READ for once geeez... its 100% FREE between 2 PCs, all you need is a headset to talk to other online users..... geez...

2 cents is only if you phone people within a REAL phone network, and nobody is asking you to do this. To reach us WOKers who all have a PC you will pay NADA.
