Well i would be willing to take on two of you at once. :P

Just ask Trewqh what happens then. :P

And ask Korexus in three more turns time.

Newbies are set

Post by Validon » Tue Oct 21, 2003 4:07 pm

Ok then. We have a five man team ready and willing to compete. As stated before the five will be:

Zed
Validon
Mullog
Ja'Ded
Donut

Just waiting on a GM and a complete Vet team.
Or is 3 Vets enough? If Saladin can take on any two newbies and we drop the one that Saladin thinks that they would lose in a game then that leaves 3.

I don't think Trewqh is a vet? But he can stand in if needed. I say we get Massi and Egbert maybe?

Wouldn't you call Baron Roland a vet? He has as much VPs as I do.

And although trewqh has been in WOK for about a year now, the player that is visible on the photo to the left has been around for over three years.

I could come along, but we should let Eg in really and if Raw's there too that'd make 3 scholars. We want to give you guys some chance...

I'd call BR missing more than anything. And only one of his VPs was actually for winning a "scoring period" game, the way I heard it. OK so winning the champs is pretty good but I'll let someone else take over that rant

OK, so we'll put in Ecrivian as the final player then shall we* :P

* Not knocking Ec here, I just don't consider him to be a Vet, just like I don't consider trewqh to be a vet. Hell I don't even consider myself to be a vet!

A matter of how people tend to name things differently. I chcecked my Longman dictionary about that and I think I'd fit in. (Not that I believe that a dictionary would solve any verbal question.)

To make this a longer thread:
Apart from me being a vet or not, don't you think I represent a higher WOK 4 experience level than the newbie team, korexus? :P

Arguing amongst the vets? Can't be good for team chemistry. Better be careful who your teammates are. If you're arguing now what happens when it's time to formulate a plan and everyone thinks their idea is the best.
Hmmmmmmmm. On second thought keep up the banter fellas. See ya in the game. If we can find a GM that is. :gossip:

I am amused that the newbies think they would even stand a chance against a good group of veteran players.

:smash:
:flip:

I don't think that a Newbie v. Vets game should award any VPs, unless the GM gave some advantage to the Newbies or some disadvantage to the Vets.

Also, as a side note, you can't really count Saladin as a Newbie in GM Fredrick's civil war game, since he had access to the Scholars' Library. :book: And that's all you really need to win a game.

Whats a WOK vet ?

Id say this is defined through time being member of the community.

I call those vets that have been around since June 1st 1999.... oh wait, thats just me ! :P

Nah, maybe those that have been here for over a year could be considered a vet.

To some extent the VP success also play a part in this equation, so Ill say a vet is someone:
1. whos been in WOK for over a year
2. has won at least a VP
3. has his own nickname in here (like Kermit does)
4. does things like keeping stats on mining for WOK5
5. rarely missed a Turn ever

Be careful Eg, those youngsters are behind you. Watch your back. Always.

Hey next g of WOK!

thanks for the back. I see an attack on one of us, means an attack on all!
you guys are great, and I have watched the game you play, each one of you are superb players, and I am not worthy of this team.
but..
You came at me Raw, and the more I gave you a little respect, the more you busted my chops, I talked smack, but I gave you props.. again I give you yours-- you have earned those bragging rights.
but...
Now, talk time is over
seems like four of complete differnet clan than me, has answered.
Seems like some of yours has come along for the ride as well
I can't say I'm going to whip you. I never did
I can't say we will overthrow you, we never would
I will say we will fight, we will learn, just like you, and we will make this game, just like all you have made it, awsome as it is.
I'm not for vp's or clan championship. that isn't what this is about
I want to play. this is all any of us want.

Get A GM figure out what to do
Newbies are ready
Are You? :behead:

I will GM the game ... no VPs, honor only ... WOK4, I pick the map ... random starting spots.

Anything I missed?

Newer folks -- if that line-up is truly the one you want, then I need each of those players to e-mail me at: GM_Matt@kaomaris.com

I'd also need the vets to talk amongst yourself and e-mail me when ready.

-GM Matt

p.s. A quick note about the Civil War game ... very interesting map put together by Fredo that with provinces inside other provinces. I think I had either the same number or fewer VPs than Sal did at the time (since I didn't have any), but I'd been around a while and so I was one of the vets in that game. The momentum of the game was turned on the very first turn due to an extremely aggressive start by the south ... a handful of even-odds battles all won on that turn gave them the advantage from that point on. It was probably a good thing that Smashy & T were on the front lines, due to their naturally aggressive styles.

Let's use the Original or Austria or a similar one with provinces glued to eachother thus giving more options to move. This is the best solution for a Clan War I think.

*Applauds GM Matt*

Why not make it North vs South Part II ?

Could be fun. :P

Just for glory ? Wow, I admire that. Good spirit those newbies have. Id give a VP though. Once either side is COMPLETELY wiped out the survivors could dig out (=fight) who gets it. Up to you guys.

My initial thought of this game was that it would be for fun. While gaining a vp would be cool, I'm all for this being a non-vp game. Especially because we are going to be pitting clan-mate vs. clan-mate. Although I'm all for fighting hard, I don't want any harsh feelings at all to come from this game.

I recieved an e-mail from Validon concerning GM'ing the game. I agreed and am very enthusiastic about doing so. I guess Brykovian already posted on here that he would GM it, so you guys can pick. Looks like the BoV vertern is already chosen, so just let me know if I should make the group or not.

If another Vet is needed, you can count me in. I'm in only one game right now so I could spare some time to kick a little newbie butt......:)And I don't see any other First Family member onboard.
