** IMPORTANT NOTE: SERVER UPGRADE **

Post by gm_al » Thu May 27, 2004 10:02 am

Yesterday our webhost has been upgrading his server architecture, migrating us to a new and more powerful system.

This has caused to mess up the ongoing species KAHUNA game and reset the messageboard etc. to some backuped older version.

Unfortunately at the time the webhost did send out a warning on the upgrade my email account was out of order due to a virus attack, so when I got to read the message it was all too late already.

We can keep running the current game, just for the fun of it. But we will also open up a new beta with some important changes anytime soon.

I will keep you posted. Sorry again to the players that were still battling it out, but those things can happen.

Yes, Blinky. It does. It also means that I'm claiming a win in Kahuna!

enjoy it while you can, because when I'm in, winning will be impossible for somebody other than me!(I guess I should wait until I win those champs in 2100 before I start this, right ;) )

Well now you have! :D

Last night I was 200 points clear of the high score. When I looked just before posting I was still 50 points ahead. Don't make me start playing again so I can go kick your ass...

Anyway, I claimed it now. It's too late to do anything about it. :P

Nobody saw nothing last night. If someone was looking anything last night - he would see earlier what happened to the DB.

Conclusion - seems you only dreamed of it.

Umm, where does that come from?

I went to bed about 12 hours ago. (1:30 am, my time) That was before the database got reset so I could still see what the scores were. Then at some point after that the database got reset and turns ran quickly until the game had caught up with itself. If I had seen the game messing up last night, I would have frozen it until this morning in order to minimise the damage. Just like I did when the hunt plant orders went wrong...

Anyway, there is a long standing tradition in WoK that;
a) If it doesn't say anywhere that you can't claim something then you can.
b) Nothing can be applied retroactively to take that thing away from you.
c) No one else can make the same claim, because they would just be being silly.

Ask anyone, it's common knowledge round here... :pure evil:

Claim away, but it doesn't mean a thing. The strategy I was running wasn't supposed to peak until late in the game, I would have overtaken you eventually. It's like a WOK game being abandoned halfway through and the person with the higher score being given all the VPs, eh? Anyway since this game's a wash I guess I might as well try and eat other folks now and see how it turns out.

Neither was mine, I had just reached the top of what specimens I could support and was sitting back to get a nice new bundle of mutations. before going on a fertility boom at the end.

The real reason that it doesn't count for anything is that this is a test game and I have access to all of your species pages, so if I really wanted to, I could cheat.

Seriously, I cant get why everyone hates Nick. Sure I too disagree with him from time to time but he is a lot of fun as well. Honestly, would you prefer WOK with or without Nick? Whatever you all will answer I KNOW that you would miss him.

Oh, and Wingy, Blinky really liked the fact that he got orders from an Irish.....NOT!

Don't let Ben's big mouth fool you, Duke. I think he's the only one that actually hates me. Maybe Craig, too, although that particular relationship has always been more of a mild dislike than actual hatred, at least on my end. I don't even hate Ben actually- I just accept he's an immature, envious, annoying git and move on with my life. 8)

Oh no Nick, I'm sure Craig hates you, and I know you hate me anyway, and I know loads of other ppl who dont like you. These ppl are however much too nice to come out and tell you nick.

Yeah Duke I would miss nick, the boards would be dull without his constant backtracking on statements, bending the rules and his totally inappropriate use of smilies. Saying all that I still wish he would piss off back to his mammy goat
