KAHUNA is now open!

Post by Mullog » Wed May 12, 2004 7:35 pm

The Kahuna jungle is now open, and the first turn will be run friday 14. may at 12:00 GMT.
So log in to the kaobase and sign up for the new game! :)

There is just one problem... When installing the new code I managed to delete all user accounts from the kaobase. So you will have to sign up for the kaobase again before joining the game.

The new game is a 7x7 map with room for 25 players, so it may get full. Sign in today! :D

Use the following link to register yourself in the kaobase:
http://www.kaomaris.com/kaobase2/newuser.php

When you log in, use the link at the top of the page. If you have any problems, let me know! :D

Good luck and enjoy.

How long is getting back into the KaoBase supposed to take? I signed up again about 4 hours ago now, and it said it would send me an email with my pw- hasn't happened yet, and that seems kinda slow to me.

Mine arrived within about 30 seconds. Creating your profile is automatic and so doesn't take long at all. The delay is probably just email being slow, it does that sometimes. Sometimes mail can get delayed by several hours...

When you see the "you will get an email bla bla bla..." message, the mail is already sent from the kaomaris server. If you still havent got the email, let me know, and I will fix it. :)

I got it- I actually got it right away but my overprotective hotmail filters sorted it into my junk folder.

Hotmail ??!! /pukes

Just a short announcement that if we dont get enough signups (Id say around 20) we will delay the start of the game for 6-24 hours. I dont want to see this one fail or get unrealistic just because we couldnt wait for a few more hours to bring the lazy and casual players in it.

There will be a message to all players in-game too.

Get moving Eg ! :P

Join.

We should try and get as many signups as we can towards the 25 ppl limit. The more the better - not only will new players get a shot at a new "world" of games, but we will also make the beta more realistic.

Im willing to call for 12 more hours delay if needed. Rest assured thought that the game WILL start this weekend.

So far I brought 2 new players from my research project, with another one coming I hear. Ill talk to my SWG peeps and will invite a few I know and trust.

I thought it over and realised i wouldn't be able to put enough time in to the game that's needed. Plus i'll be gone for 4 days starting next Wednesday. Sorry.

Uh, I hate to break this to you guys, but Kahuna seems to be having a bit of a seizure. It's been stuck on turn 97 for what looks like at least a few hours now. It's fortunately not a step, so nobody is starving to death, but I'm sure this could have seriously impacted some player strategies depending on what order they are doing on turn 97. :x

We got it. We fixed it. :D

It wasn't so long, the turns were running every 2 minutes (since the server thought turn 97 was overdue). The problem was caused by X-Wing trying to eat something that he disagreed with.

The question now is, whether to reset the game or what?

Rune's call there I'm glad to say. 8)

I will try to restore the game to turn 96, but this is a completely manual process so it may be too much work. I have stopped the turns from running, so let me know what you think. Would it be horrible if we dumped the game and started a new one?

Restoring the game will be too much work, so I will have to restart it.
I will place all players in their starting positions and reset all stats and scores and plants.
The game will restart at 12:00 GMT tomorrow, so hopefully most of you will have enough time to enter new orders.

Good luck to all of you! And let us hope everything goes well this time. :)

Not that this matters very much, but I think I have been put in the wrong place on the map.
I am currently in G5 but my original starting square was F7
