Funny thing. The original "Omnivore" had required some BS, but we took it out because BS already has some major influences.
Now we discussed this and came to the conclusion that a requirement of BS#2 really is the best solution for OMNIVORE.
Back to the roots, problem solved.
Lots of nice tweaks coming up for the new beta, stay tuned !

As for the Omnivore/Carnivore/Herbivore issue, let's take a look at Mother Nature for a possible solution. How does Mom handle it? Why aren't all of the Herbivores extinct --- eaten by Carnivores and Omnivores?
It's not because Herbivores can fight back and possibly kill their hunters (although in some cases, it's possible). It's because there are a LOT more Herbivores! So how about this: Give the Herbivores more specimens to start with, a higher fertility rate, and perhaps a quicker means to get to certain skills (speed, swim, etc.). If a Herbivore becomes an Omnivore, then its fertility rate should decrease dramatically, as well as its ability to acquire more skills.

hmm, you mean increase the cost of fertility and skills for omni/carni vores? It might work, but I think players would just stay as Herbivores for longer, get the skills while they're cheap then change eating habits...
As of OUTBACK, hunting people to death shouldn't be very useful in most cases, I don't think we need to add more bad points to the Omnivores' lives...

Well here is something I haven't seen posted yet:
When your Body Size increases your fertility drops by 5% instantly so I just lost 7 % fertility in 1 turn. so I guess the bigger you are the harder it becomes to breed.
Haven't looked into if it affects anything else yet but will get back to you.
It also appears that it costs more to increase fertilty.
I could swear it used to only cost 2 turns. now it costs me 3.
I also can't eat black plants anymore. (good thing these plants are Red)
At least I can become an omnivore again. Maybe I will do that and go back and EAT AL.

I set my default action to bank turns overnite. When I checked the event log this morning, once I had 25 turns banked and it started buying skill points automatically, even though my default still says bank. Is this intentional? Not that I'm complaining.

Yes UT that is exactly what the game is supposed to do.
once you cannot do the default order it will go to the other one just to prevent you from losing the turns. Now if for some reason you had reached the maximum skill points also I assume it would then just do nothing. but it allows you to go to bed and not have to worry about losing your turns after you had banked the maximum allowed turns.
I think that was mentioned in one of the other threads but there are so many I lose track of what is where.

Why don't you go there and check?Saladin wrote:A little question. Are there plants you can eat in a water square?
Oh, ok then. Yes. There are plants. If not, it would be a horrible strategy to learn swim to escape the flesheaters.

Well, I found that joining a game late doesn't give one huge disadvantages, which is very nice. I joined Everglades around Turn #320 and I'm doing quite nicely so far. The turtles are doing much better than the wolves ever did.
That may be due to the fact that there are no predators out there yet, though.

I was just wondering if anyone figured out the POP death rate yet. I assumed that earlier I wasn't gaining any specimen because I wasn't feeding my species, but I haven't missed a feeding in over 3 cycles, and still am getting an even death/birth rate. My Fertility isn't great (5-10%), but it's not horendous either. Just wondering if anyone has figured it out.

The pop death rate is random, although the bigger your BS is the higher the range is. There's nothing you can do to control it, really.

I didn't know you could only store 200 skill points?
I've lost several orders now with my species doing nothing.
Is the max number of skill points related to the Brain Power?
Code: Select all
Your Brain Power of 4 allows you to store 40 Turns.
Performing default order: Both skill points and banked turns at max! No order to perform!
