Chris's Secret Project.
A little while back, I started teasing you all with talk of a secret project.
After that, some members of the community got conned into testing a new game for me.
The game is not ready yet, but it's reaching the point where I believe that it will be eventually. So to spur me on, here is a spoiler for the WoK RPG.
Hopefully this will help keep me motivated to finish off the coding...

Not initially. The game is very much 'tick' based and so PvP combat would be highly unfair on a player who was offline, or just checking another window.Tinker wrote:Will there be PvP combat?
I have considered it though, and designed the engine so that all forms of attack *could* be directed from a player at another player. One way I've seen this handled in other games is to have a designated area of the map for players to fight in, which could work quite well I think.
As for when it will be released, I don't know. I originally planned for the new year (2008) but as you can see that didn't happen. Mostly because a lot of new ideas have been added, but also because I occasionally lose interest and leave it for a few weeks. Hopefully with members of the community to prod me onwards with questions, I'll work a bit harder!
Chris.

I am one of the lucky few who have been testing the new game, and it is quite addictive!
At the moment, while testing, you can restart the game as many times as you want, and that makes the game quite simple since you can't die. It will be interesting to see how the game plays for real. And it will be even more interesting to see how the game plays with more players in the game world.
Anyway. You have done a great job here, Chris. You really should open the game for all players soon!

Great job, Chris. I'm about to resurrect myself and see if I can survive longer this time than all the other times ...
