Meeting in London

In November I am going to London on vacation, and while there I have convinced Korexus and Hannibal that it would be fun to meet and discuss wok-stuff (and drink beer and eat pizza).
But it would be even more fun if more of you people would show up. I think we agreed to meet on the 18th of November at around 5pm somewhere in central London (we will agree on the exact location later :))

So are any of you interested and in the area? Maybe this will be the first ever annual wok gathering? 8)

We had one like five years ago in Las Vegas. Only Al and QP showed so I guess it doesnt count. :?

Btw, why is Hannibals name all messed up with capitals and what not these days? When did that start?

Click Here for Hannibal name change info

I remember Al planning on the Las Vegas meet up. It was to happen towards the end of 2003 or 2004 I believe. It was about 18 months before it was meant to happen when I saw it discussed and then I never saw it mentioned again after that.

If Nestalawe goes then I will  (Nesty lives in London)

The word censor that some players disapprove of is filtering Han's name to have extra formatting added. This is done after the post is pulled from the database for you to look at.

This means that if you quote the editted name then it is put into the database with the extra formatting.

As a security measure, the forums dissallow all html tags on the way out of the database, so the formatting is shown as plain text. Unfortunately, there's no easy way round this...

We're all just  , you're so :whip: as to use that as an excuse!

Why don't you bring your :sexy: along? We're not completely  (well, not all of us, anyway). She may even decide that she likes WoK!

Plus, I'd imagine meeting a :female: coule be quite an :yellowjumper: experience for some of our members!
See you at the :gossip: (or more likely the  )

I've decided that I don't use smilies enough...

Being a school night means I wouldn't be able to stay long. Would it be better for other people if we started earlier?

We could all watch Israel V Russia and pray for a miracle?

Well, a Saturday would be preferable, but Chris is going to a party that Saturday and I also can't be there then so I would be really happy if we agreed on the Sunday.

We could start earlier if you prefer that. I have an appointment with a restaurant at 8pm, but nothing before that.

I think this WOKFEST meet-up is (probably!?) a great idea. Well done Mull.

So let's try and maximise it, if only as a one-off. Let's get as many as poss, even flying in specially. It looks like it will be in a bar in central London from noon-ish, to peter out from 4pm to 8pm. Sunday November 18th, 4 weeks from now.

To try to help Mull's idea:

It occurs to me that some of you are students or so, or otherwise tight on budget, and you might see you could find a cheap flight or coach to London, but are worried it might cost you $500 to stay at the Ritz or somewhere...

OK, I'm happy to offer overnight accommodation at my house, night before or night after or both. If anyone wants it. I'm not talking luxury for you and your partner. Just so's you are not disappointed, I'm talking camp bed and mattress in our spare fifth bedroom, plus maybe shuffling our 4 kids to release a second room if needed.

So, feel free (almost any of you) to take me up on this. My house is in Ealing, half way between Heathrow and Central London, easy to get to. I want to help Mull's initiative, so I'm happy to offer, feel free.

As it stands, it's Kor, Mull and me committed. Here's hoping for a few more.

Han

Well, I've written it on the calendar (with a thick RED biro) and I'll know more when the page is flipped over in ten days time...
I'll speak to Nancy about the 'pass' on Thursday night as we'll be at a wedding and we'll be  making merry...

kor: earlier would be  from my pov...

And I owe Lardmaster a pint for sponsoring my 1/2 marathon...
