Vacation house - your opinions of it

Post by Duke » Thu Jun 23, 2005 9:32 pm

I'm trying to talk my wife into agreeing with me on buying a summer/vacation house away from the city.

She is coming along but it is going too slow since I have my mind set on this:

What do you think? The bidding starts at 475000 Swedish crowns. I dont know what that is in you donald duck money but I think 7 crowns is a dollar or something close to it.

That looks very cute, Duke ... if you can swing the payment, I'd say go for it.

Is that grass with the thin tree cover next to the lake part of the property, or is that a public/shared park?

The title translates to "400 meters from lake" so I am guessing that it isnt a part of the property but only a picture of how that lake looks like. It does however have 2100 square meters of property which is quite a bit.

Wow Duke! That's cheap! 50,000 euros for a nice little cottage and 2100 square meters of property. You should get it.

My parents in law have bought a nice house in Wintersberg (Germany), but that was twice as expensive with a lot less land. But then again Wintersberg is a very popular ski-ing resort in winter and i guess the Swedes have more land than people to inhabit it all.

Anyway a little holiday gettaway is always a good investment!

At the moment it looks more likely that me and Mullog hook up and buy it then that me and my wife does. She isnt falling for my salesman tricks at all and keeps talking about the petty piece of detail that we wouldnt afford the maintenance of it.

I beg to differ. If we claim that there is plenty of moose in the region then Germans would give their right arm to rent it for a week. AND I would maintain it myself with the guidance of TK and various other skilled craftsmen dwelling on the shores of Kaomaris so I would only pay for the actual material. If even that. I am re-painting our house this summer and managed to make a nice cleaning-equipment vs. expensive paint trade so it is all good.

She has one point however. She says we should wait for the fall to come when couples are sick of eachother and says stuff like "not one more summer with you in that stupid house!" and sell thier vacation houses for nothing just to get rid of them. I think I am with her in that line of thought.
