Just thought you all should know that the Daytona 500 kicks off the new NASCAR season on Sunday. I know Calidus is with me on this...

I have a good amount of redneck in me, so I know all about it.
BTW - I'm gonna win it.

To get back on subject.
Have any of the rest of you who DO follow NASCAR noticed how there are few Ford teams left? yeah there are still people running them but mostly because of Roush.
Roush(5), Wood Brothers(1), and Yates(2). along with whoever it is that Andretti is running for these days.
A few years ago they were all complaining about how Ford had too big an advantage now hardly anyone is running them.

lol... I am a Chevy fan (That's the only vehicle I've ever driven). I didn't realize how low the number was for Ford. If it weren't for Sadler and Busch I think that Ford would be dead; even though I think Busch was the least deserving of the title last year.
Maybe it's time Ford come out with a different body style. Ditch the Taurus(sp?). Maybe they can start driving Escorts?

You mean infront of team Honda :p
As for Gordon winning....that just sucks.

Actually, if I am not mistaken, Ford IS replacing the Taurus (which is an excellent car, we have a 2004) with the new Ford 500.
Personally, I like the Chrysler 300 better, but that's because it looks like an old "gangster" car from the 20's and 30's. Classic styling that sets it apart from the croud.

I'm glad to see they got their act together. But for the Ford 500... it's much like the Chrysler 300 like you said, which seems to be close to the Dodge Magnum. I find all 3 remarkably annoying because of their large front ends. I think they look stupid.
I like the new Chargers that Dodge was running today.
And for the race... Amazing! It was nice that I was rooting for Gordon but the entire race, especially the end had me and my roomate screaming (too bad he's jumped on the Jr bandwagon

).
Question: Is the points system the same this year as it was last year? Last years was supposedly a trial and I never heard if they were going to keep it. If they did, does anyone know of any changes they made?

I suspect since I have heard NOTHING about it that they have left it the way it was last year. If they had changed it the announcers would have said something about it sometime during the race. I didn't hear them talk about it at all. Ergo.....
No changes.

Maybe they realized that Busch winning the championship last year when Gordon, Johnson, and Junior (you could even argue Newman) had much better years was a crock and were too embarrased to admit it.
We'll see though.
