Hey, since I was nearly signed up into it, I've been dipping in to follow this Westeros game every week or so. It seems to have disappeared from Running Games and is not to be found in Old Games. What happened in it?? How'd it go?

The game needs regular GM input and Sal does not have proper internet access right now, so the game is paused.

This issue comes up quite often (almost whenever someone can't find a game, it's because it has been paused). Should I change the way games are displayed, somehow?

I don't think we need that? Maybe I'm missing something, but where do "Paused" games go then?? Easiest might be if any "Paused" game automatically stays, marked Paused, in the list of Running Games, until reset to Running (stays in Running Games) or Finished (soon goes to Old Games) by the GM?

Talking of which: I still think a game marked "Finished" jumps too soon from the Running Games list to the Old Games list, before some people can see how it ended, still visible in Running Games. For example, the Full Duel between Celery and Gherkinette (sorry, Celerian and Dragonette); I wrote a GM comment on the gamepage, congrats etc, and how it went; and others might have been dipping in to see how it was going ... but a day or two later it was gone, relegated to Old Games already.

A programmer viewpoint might be that it is still findable, it is just in Old Games now. My point is that it ought to hang around where people actually look, for a couple of weeks. If we ever have too many in the list of Running Games, we could review this. But we don't at the moment. In fact, quite the reverse: it makes it look like more games "current", good!

They're in the database, but none of the three links (view open, running or old games) is programmed to display them currently. You can view paused games by using the search option right above the list of games.

Showing paused games with running games is a good idea, but I think my idea is good as well propaganda-wise :) Seeing 70 or so games in total is impressive. :)

Paused games now show from the view runing games link. Could I ask all GMs who use the pause button to hide games (myself included) to use the 'pending' option through kaobase now.

A view all games option seems overkill. There's no actual use to it. All the games worth seeing (open, running, paused, finished and published) as well as pending games just in case show as the default option when opening the game search screen. People will only want to see old games if they were in them and even then, only rarely. I think it's more important that people can easily find the game they want than that we can provide a massive list.

Games are marked as finished as soon as everyone agrees on a vote. They stay finished until 1 week after the turn was due to run. This means for a standard game, they are marked finished for between 7 and 10 days (assuming a 3 day turn over) which seems enough. If a Duel player waits a long time then this period can be eaten into, but does it really matter?

Does anyone mind if I mark this game as over? It's been nearly half a year since the last turn now, and I'm getting bored of seeing it in my Lobby...
